The much anticipated 26th annual “Arts in the Barn” in East Concord will include many of its visitors’ favorite baked goods and other foods, high-quality crafts (it’s time for holiday shopping!) and craftspeople. “There will be pies, sweet rolls, fudge, mittens, candles, sea glass, soaps, and lotions”, said Martha Anderson, the founder and event coordinator of the popular event, listing just a few of the many items that will be available Wendel’s Maple Sugarhouse. “Wendel’s always has a booth, with maple syrup, maple products, barbecue sauce, and so on”, she continued. “Teresa McDonald will have delicious fried dough, and Karen Wallace will be there with ‘Wild Botanicals’. There will be over thirty vendors, filling both floors of the sugarhouse”. Ms. Anderson’s business, “A Moment in Time” involves pressing and framing bridal bouquets, preserving priceless memories.
“Josh DiBlasi of Northman Knife Company, will be there, and Peter Campana, a woodturner, and Adrienne Gilbarith, who sells leather purses”, Ms. Anderson continued. “Teresa Pitstop, who sells primitive paintings and signs, will be there, and Mary Joy Murphy, a textile artist, who will have her art on the porch. Custom Cups by Teresa will have customized tumblers and cups, dog bowls, cat bowls, charcuterie boards and resin and epoxy art. A brand-new artist, Kieran Lavtar, will have his artwork featuring acrylic paint, inks and oils pastels. Holland Kiwanis Club members will be selling raffle tickets for a tool raffle”.
The autumn foliage is expected to be especially beautiful this year, and visiting Arts in the Barn allows visitors to enjoy the natural beauty surrounding it. “There’s a family-friendly hayride with Wanda the Witch, that goes across the street to the pond in the daytime, so it’s not spooky”, continued Ms. Anderson. Fun Fact (for adults only): Ray Wendling will have samples of his maple liquors, which include bourbon.
Arts in the Barn will be at Wendel’s Maple Sugarhouse, located right next to Wendel’s Poultry Farm, at 12466 Vaughn Street in East Concord, NY (Route 240). It will take place over two weekends: October 17-18 and October 24 & 25. It will happen rain or shine. For more information, email flowersbymartha@gmail.com or look at Facebook.
