Crystal Visions: Ellicottville’s Good for the Spirit Gifts Imprints Upon Community and Soul

By Jessica Miller

When Rev. Suzy Woo was asked to describe her shop Good for the Spirit Gifts (11 Martha St, Ellicottville), she replied with a surprising but apt comparison. She said, “It really is like a giant Home Depot for the soul—we have many, many tools!”

Amongst the tools available here for internal renovations are crystals, divination cards, candles, books and journals, jewelry, artwork, essential oils and diffusers, sage and smudge sticks, salt lamps, and other assorted accouterments for spiritual wellness. Good for the Spirit also carries sound and musically based tools for shoppers’ benefit like gongs, tuning forks, drums, and singing bowls. The eclectic and extensive mix of goods sold ensures that regardless of what calls out to one’s spirit, something can be found to heed that guidance.

Rev. Woo’s first foray into enlightenment products involved selling dish gardens from her personal vehicle. After this attempt, she made and sold hand painted angel pendants with crystals and aromatherapy soaps at vendor fairs and on Etsy. As Woo prospered with her own crafts, she had a vision of providing a similar platform for fellow artisans. In 2018, she also began accepting clients to her spiritual consultation and energy healing practice. 2020 found the addition of Good for the Spirit gift shop to her Orchard Park office, fulfilling the vision of supporting like-minded creators.

A more recent vision involved opening for business in Ellicottville. Rev. Woo recently bought a farm in Chautauqua County and still had a strong desire to have a presence in the village. Woo said, “Ellicottville was my first choice to look for relocation, and it manifested fast! I opened my businesses here September 1st, and then in late October, I moved homes.” While she is admittedly still living out of boxes from one location to the next, she considers Ellicottville to be a home base already.

“Ellicottville is the most amazing place EVER. I was blown away at how other business owners came to our Grand Opening event to welcome us to the neighborhood. It was really moving for me. I cried a lot that weekend. It was so beautiful. Everybody was, and continues to be so warm and supportive.”

The services and guidance Rev. Woo provides can also be found at Lily Dale Assembly, where she has spent the last seven years teaching on crystal uses and as part of their Astrology Discovery series. She was also a presenter at their inaugural conference of The Astrology Gathering. Shoppers and clients can learn even more about Rev. Woo, Good for the Spirit products, and related services at goodforthespiritgifts.com and suzy-woo.com.

She offered the following insights for readers’ general guidance into a new year: “2022 is going to be like a wild roller coaster with big shock waves in our lives and in the planet such as earthquakes, tsunamis and a lot of flooding while Jupiter is in Pisces. But this is the year things slow down and start to turn around… expect everything financial to go inside out and to work in and for smaller communities as we finally get to live in peace. It’s coming. My best advice is to give yourself and everyone permission to be who there are, where they are. Love and respect them right where they are. But know who you are and what your values are, and love yourself fully and completely. Then life will become way easier! And stay flexible because this will be a turbulent year of change on all levels. For those who are enlightened and adaptable, it will be super fantastic. This is not the time for closed-mindedness. The USA will be very; very different by the time we see 2024. Stay positive, and live in compassion is my best advice. Love all!”
