Warrior Fitness and Wellness Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary

By Kate Bartlett

As we ring in 2022, many of us are making health resolutions. Warrior Fitness & Wellness is celebrating its one-year anniversary, as they opened their doors January 4, 2021. They are located at 5a Park Ave off of Rockwell Ave. Bradley Poole (pictured) is the owner of Warrior Fitness & Wellness. Although he lives in Salamanca, Ellicottville has always been a part of his life. He is an Ellicottville graduate and is proud to now have a business in this beautiful town.

“At Warrior Fitness & Wellness we offer gym memberships, fitness classes and personal training. As far as equipment goes we have free weights, squat racks, strength machines, cardio machines, ropes, plyometric boxes, punching bag, speed bag, agility equipment and much more. We have everything you need and then some!”

“On the wellness side of things we offer massage therapy and chiropractic services. Our massage therapist is a skilled and professional therapist, Regina Mowry, who owns Mountainview Massage. Our chiropractor is the best around and has been in Ellicottville forever, Doug Schindler. He is the owner of Peakside Chiropractic.”

Brad describes Warrior Fitness as supportive, encouraging, family-like and fun. “It’s an all-around great place to workout, not feel judged, and be surrounded by awesome and amazing people. Not to mention, the vibrant colors of our facility are great for putting you in a good mood!”

“Warrior Fitness is unique because we are a one-stop-shop. We offer fitness and wellness related components in one facility. I’m happy to have had the opportunity to bring something new and unique to the Ellicottville community. This is also a place for everyone of all different fitness backgrounds and levels. Whether you’re into weightlifting, using machines, CrossFit style training, or cardio, we have what you need. And if you don’t know where to start we’re here to help and support you on your journey.”

Fitness has been part of Brad’s life since he was a kid as he enjoyed being involved in sports. “Fitness has been my lifeline, as it’s helped keep me as healthy as I am today. I was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease that causes buildup of mucus in the lungs and other parts of the body. This mucus ravishes and destroys the body overtime resulting in a limited life expectancy. Through fitness and hours of breathing treatments daily, I am able to slow the progression and continue living my life to the fullest. I saw how much exercise impacted my life for the better. I decided to make it a career so I could help others become healthier versions of themselves.”

Warrior Fitness originated from his life struggles. “I wasn’t always healthy, in fact, there was a period of time when I turned to alcohol to cope with my physical and mental health. From 17-23 years of age I was drinking 5-6 days a week to the point of blacking out most times. I began slacking on my breathing treatments and exercise. I started getting hospitalized for two weeks at a time because of lung function decline. The hospital became my second home. At 23 I had to make a decision, either continue doing what I’m doing and die within 5 years, or get my life back on track. Although it was extremely hard, I fought hard to better myself and become the man I am today. I developed a warrior-like mentality that helped propel me through the most darkest of times.” Hence the name Warrior Fitness.

Brad loves his hometown roots in the EVL community. “It’s a small, beautiful town that attracts people from all over. There’s plenty of things to do here during all seasons. It’s a caring and supportive community. We all know each other and look out for one another. Through my work, I love that I can help change people’s lives for the better. I’m helping people to better themselves, see their true potential and become healthier versions of themselves.”
