The Allegheny National Forest turns 100 and we’re celebrating, together in art! The Crary Art Gallery’s “ANF100 Juried Exhibition”, an art exhibit celebrating the Allegheny National Forest on its centennial, opens this Friday in Warren, PA. The opening reception, from 5-8pm on Friday, September 22 at the Crary Art Gallery (511 Market St, Warren, PA 16365), is a free, catered event celebrating the Allegheny National Forest and the selected artists. Awards will be presented for works in the show, and there will be a few speakers.

The call for entries for the exhibition, answered by over 100 artists, was winnowed down to the work in the exhibition by Laura Domencic, artist, educator, curator, and Executive Director of the Erie Art Museum. Entries had to be directly inspired by one of the core aspects of the Allegheny National Forest – such as recreation, vegetation/plants, or gas and oil. Artists were encouraged to submit the GPS coordinates at which their works were completed or inspired.

This gallery opening kicks off a weekend full of centennial celebrations across the ANF, culminating in al all-day Centennial Celebration at the Wilcox Recreation Area on September 24.

If you can’t make it to Friday evening’s opening, the ANF100 exhibition will remain on view through the weekend, during the Crary Art Gallery’s normal hours of 12-6pm on Saturday and 12-4pm on Sunday. Admission is always free.
