The Bemus Point Library is now showcasing and selling tickets for the 90+ gift cards and baskets that will be raffled as part of their Friday, May 3rd fundraising event at Ellicottville Brewing Company’s (EBC) lakeside restaurant in Bemus Point. EBC is donating a portion of their proceeds to the Bemus Point Library during the one-night event that kicks off the restaurant’s 2024 summer season.

May 3rd restaurant patrons will be eligible for hourly EBC gift card & beer drawings while they sip literary-themed cocktails, eat great food and support the library,” said EBC Bemus General Manager Topper Clemmons. “Come out and kickoff the summer season while supporting a great cause. We promise to put the fun in fundraising.” Clemmons added that the restaurant doors will open at 4 pm and live entertainment by the Big Dog Acoustics begins at 6 pm.

   The 90 plus raffle baskets now on view at the Bemus Point Library include two, $55 tickets to Chautauqua Institution’s famed House and Garden tour, scheduled for July 11th; a $329 auto spa detailing package from Ed Shults in Jamestown; two  tickets to both the National Comedy and Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz Museums in Jamestown, along with a basket of the museums’ gift store items; 50% savings on hair, nail and spa services at St. Elmo Spa in the Chautauqua Institution; an $135 skate board package; an $100 gift card to any Wegmans’ location; $100 gift cards to EBC and The Fish restaurants in Bemus Point; numerous $25-50 gift cards to other businesses & restaurants in Bemus, Jamestown, Lakewood and Mayville; Reno pottery; artwork  by nationally-recognized local artist, William Disbro; two hanging flower baskets from Mike’s Nursery in Lakewood; 10 child-themed baskets, barware, spirits and much more. 

   “We have had a tremendous response for donated items from our generous Chautauqua Lake businesses and volunteers, and we want to give the general public ample time to peruse the baskets and place their tickets before the fun-filled event moves to EBC on May 3rd,” said Bemus Point Library Director Shannon Donovan. “Wait till you see our incredible raffle items!”

   Raffle tickets can be purchased and placed on the baskets and gift cards at the Bemus Library now through May 2nd.  Tickets prices are: 26 tickets for $10 or 52 tickets for just $15 and all proceeds go directly to the library.  The Bemus Point Library is open Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 10-5 pm; Wednesday 1pm-5pm; Thursday 10 am -7 pm; and Saturday 10-2 pm.  Cash, checks and Venmo is accepted.

   The Bemus Point Library is one of the smallest of the 38 libraries that make up the Chautauqua/Cattaraugus County system, but one with a huge community impact.  With just two, part-time employees and dedicated volunteers, it offers 16,000 books in one room; a much-regarded, free weekly toddler program that serves children from both Bemus Point and surrounding communities; a visiting reading support dog; author talks; a monthly book club; and internet access & five computers available six days a week to residents and hundreds of summer patrons.
