Spread the love

In the heart of Ellicottville’s lively food and beverage scene, two bartenders have become more than just masters of mixology—they’re a dynamic duo whose energy, creativity, and camaraderie keep patrons coming back night after night. Known for their signature cocktails, quick wit, and seamless teamwork behind the bar, they’ve turned ordinary outings into unforgettable experiences. Whether shaking up a bold new concoction or sharing a laugh with regulars, these two embody the spirit of hospitality that makes Holiday Valley’s bar culture truly special.

Amy Moore and Holly Morton have worked together in food and beverage at Holiday Valley for 21 years. “We’re probably the most senior employees working together in food and beverage at Holiday Valley,” says Amy. “We started working together at The Hearth (old Main Chalet) and then John Harvard’s when it opened in the Tamarack Lodge, and now at Edna’s and the Cabana Bar. All of our children have worked with us in the food service industry here at Holiday Valley. We all love serving the community; it’s really a family affair!”

Holly remembers the first day she first worked with Amy like it was yesterday. “It was at the annual Beer and Wine Festival at the old main lodge, where we were serving shrimp,” recalls Holly. “During a few slow moments, I got to know her quickly. The funniest part of that day was when Amy told me she was normally not as quiet as she was being—and my ears were already hurting by the end of the night! I have always gravitated toward outgoing people since I tend to be on the quieter side.”

Amy and Holly’s personalities complement each other, with Amy being more outgoing and Holly more reserved. “Holly says she’s the calm before the storm,” laughs Amy. “Sometimes you can even see my halo and her devil horns,” quips Holly. “We work great together behind the bar. We’ve both been here for so long and know so many customers. We’ve developed relationships and watched families grow up over the years, especially owners at the Tamarack Club. We’ve watched kids come in after taking lessons, grow up to teach lessons, then go off to college and some even eventually come back with their own families. It’s truly something special,” explains Amy.

Amy and Holly appreciate the family focus of Holiday Valley and enjoy getting to know their customers. “We enjoy connecting with the customers, both those visiting from all over and the regulars who return weekly or year after year,” explains Holly. “I may not always remember every name, but I always remember the friendly faces.”

Holiday Valley offers a great family atmosphere with activities year-round. “It’s not just a winter destination,” explains Holly. “Every day is different, and everyone comes here to have fun, catch up with friends, and meet new people. With golfing, Sky High Adventure Park, mountain biking, hiking, weddings, corporate events, family reunions and more, Holly and Amy enjoy meeting guests and reuniting with returning families in every season. “It’s a very family-oriented resort,” explains Amy. “It’s just a really fun place, like their slogan, ‘It’s just fun’. I’m lucky to get to work at a place that I love so much. Even when I’m off duty I love visiting and going golf, skiing, or hanging by the pool.”

Edna’s Tamarack Club offers a wide variety of food and beverage options including stone fire pizzas, chicken wings, Beef on Weck and other New York staple items. “It’s great for families and skiers, but it’s also nice for a date night,” explains Amy. “We also offer a nice salmon, steaks and bottles of wine so it can be casual or romantic.” The full menu is also available at the bar along with a seasonal rotating cocktail menu and 12 beers on tap. “We are famous for our Bloody Mary’s and we have a really great expresso martini. There’s always something fun on the menu.”

During the summer months, Amy and Holly take their dynamic duo poolside on the slopes at the Cabana Bar. “I’m fortunate to have the best of both worlds,” says Amy. “It’s a nice change of scenery and we enjoy serving golfers and pool guests. The live music is great; it’s a great way to soak in the warm weather.”
