The Village of Lakewood is thrilled to announce its first Hoods Up, Lakewood Car Show. This event will take place this Saturday, June 20th, (rain date June 21st) from 10am-4pm. This car show has been organized by the Lakewood Community Development Corporation (LCDC). The LCDC is dedicated to planning, promoting, and executing programs and events that enhance the quality of life in the community, with a particular focus on the historic downtown area of the village. In addition to the car show, the event features live music, delicious food, prizes, and giveaways.

The car show will take place along Chautauqua Avenue, which will be closed from First Street to Hartley Park. Whether you have a restored classic antique, hot rod, or a new generation sports car, come and showcase your ride, as the event is open to all makes and models of cars and motorcycles. The registration donation is $10 per vehicle, and registration will take place that day at 8am near the intersection of Chautauqua and Summit Streets. Spectators are free to attend, and you can park for free along nearby streets.

The first one hundred vehicles to register will receive some fantastic rewards for participating, such as a stylish dash plaque, a commemorative cup, and bottle opener to take home as mementos. Each participant will also be entered into a raffle for a chance to win door prizes given out throughout the day. Trophies will be awarded at 3:30pm for first, second, and third place, based on votes from the public attending the event.

Another highlight of the car show is the live music entertainment. Two bands will be performing in the afternoon. Furious George, a well-known classic and modern rock band from the Silver Creek-Fredonia area will perform at Group Ther-Happy on the patio, weather permitting, from 12-4pm. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, there is ample space for them to perform indoors.

Down Chautauqua Avenue at Hartley Park, the band Two Towns will entertain the crowd from 12-4pm. This classic rock band hails from the Dunkirk-Fredonia area. Both bands are prominent in the local music scene, frequently performing at various bars, festivals, music series, clubs, and private parties.

After strolling along Chautauqua Avenue to admire the cars, you’re sure to work up a thirst and an appetite. Several nearby restaurants will be open for business. In the morning, you may want to visit Ryder’s Cup for some coffee and homemade baked goods. Later, you can meander over to Group Ther-Happy, where you’ll find a variety of food options, including pizza, wings, appetizers, and more. Between Ryder’s Cup and Group Ther-Happy, you’ll also discover Colquhoun’s Ice Cream and Subs, which offers delicious subs and amazing homemade ice cream boasting unique and tasty flavors.

Additionally, there will be food and drink vendors set up along Chautauqua Avenue, including 3C’s Food Truck serving BBQ food and a variety of other dishes. You can also enjoy treats from Korn Kings Kettle Corn and Sassy Sizzle, which offer funnel cakes, deep-fried Oreos, and other sweet treats. Pit Stop Pops will be serving a variety of customized non-alcoholic drinks.

With the car show, along with great music and refreshments, this is bound to be a great event that the LCDC has organized. The LCDC would like to thank the sponsors of Bedrock Agency, Jim Rowe Enterprises, Pea Pod and Juniper, and Comparion Insurance, as well as Der Kobblers, Bernie’s Fundraising, Scott Bremer of Sandal Photo, Gallagher Insurance, the Lakewood Legion, and D&S Glass. Their support and contributions made this event possible.

Moving forward, the LCDC hopes you will keep an eye out for more information on their Rock the Lake Sunday Concert Series. It is a free concert series that will be starting July 12th in Hartley Park, with an Abba tribute band from 2-5pm.

So, if you have a car or motorcycle that you would like to showcase, shine it up and come to show off your ride. Let’s fill Chautauqua Avenue with classic cars, hot rods, live music, delicious refreshments, and community spirit, as we kick off the summer near the lake.  For more information you can visit lcdcny.org or the LCDC Facebook page.
