Springville now has a Farmer’s Market on Saturdays at Heritage Park (65 Franklin Street), from the first Saturday in May until the last Saturday in September, between 8am-1pm, customers will find products ranging from produce, flowers and quality meats to bakery items, honey, wool products and more. The Grand Opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is this Saturday, May 9th (the market did open on May 2nd). The regular vendors include: Highland Acres (beef, pork, chicken, eggs and more), Springbrook Apiary (honey), Flourbox Bakery (baked goods), Savage Wheat Project (bakery items), Pascarella Farm (USDA Pork), Henry’s Gardens (hanging baskets and more), ‘Tis the Season (jams and jellies), Shining Star Cattle Company (beef), Ploetz’s Maple Syrup, Hoski’s Farm (Alpaca wool products), Enchanted Mountain Candle Company and 49 Coffee House. More good news: the park has restrooms, and lots of parking is available, thanks to the owner of Spring Creek Professional Mall, who is allowing customers to use his lot.

“On May 9th, at 9:45am, Patrick Hammer, the jovial weatherman from Channel 2, will be our guest speaker”, said Ed Heary, the Market Manager. “Brayton Wilson, who starred as Minnesota Slim in ‘Lumberjacks in Love’ will be our Master of Ceremonies.”, he continued. “Brayton works as a news guy at WBEN 930 Radio, and as a sports guy at WGR 550am Radio, both of Buffalo”.

“On Mother’s Day weekend, Father’s Day weekend, during Springville’s Art Crawl on June 6th, Memorial Day weekend, July 4th, and Labor Day weekend, the market will have special events, with entertainers and food trucks”, he added. “On June 13th, Stephen Myers will have a free bicycle clinic, including tire repairs and brake adjustments. On July 4th, there will be a parade.”

“All the beef and pork is born and raised on our farm”, said Emily Waniak, the owner of Highland Acres Farm, one of the vendors at the Springville Farmer’s Market. “Cattle are pastured, and in the winter, they are fed the hay we grow”, she added. “We hatch our own egg layers, who lay beautiful colored eggs, including brown, dark brown, blue and olive”, she added. “The yolks are dark orange, fresher and much more healthy than pale yolked, store-bought eggs. We bake sourdough breads, cookies, cakes, cupcakes, scones, pies, bagels, brownies, and more.”

“We have tallow skin care products made from our very own cattle and organic essential oils, and goat milk soap from our own goats”, she continued. “This summer we should have tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, carrots, turnips, Swiss chard, yellow squash, zucchini and other vegetables. We believe in sustainable farming, humane animal treatment and living off the land the way nature intended.”
