Bemus Point, NY, is a premier destination during spring and summer months due to its vibrant Chautauqua Lake setting. From boutique shopping and waterfront restaurants to the historic Bemus Point–Stow Ferry, and a full calendar of community events, the village offers a variety of events in the spring and summer months to help showcase its exceptional charm.
Located on Chautauqua Lake, Bemus Point is a natural hub for boating, fishing, and time on the water. Long Point State Park offers swimming and marina access, and the historic Bemus Point–Stow Ferry provides a unique way to cross the lake during the summer months. Visitors can explore local favorites like The Lawson Center, the Bemus Point Historical Society, and Midway State Park, or spend time enjoying live music and lakeside dining at the Village Casino. The village itself is easy to walk, with shops like Skillmans, GI Threads, and The Musky Mall, along with other small businesses that give Bemus Point its character. The Bemus Point Golf Club & Tap House is another popular stop in the village, offering public golf, food, and live entertainment.
Many organizations come together to host events that attract both visitors and locals, showcasing Bemus Point’s unique blend of lakeside charm and community connection. Bemus is Blooming, a village-wide open house, marks the start of the spring season May 2-3 with shops displaying new merchandise and restaurants offering specials. Visitors will enjoy Kentucky Derby watch parties, Cinco de Mayo celebrations, and a kick-off to the season in the village.
The Village of Bemus Point’s new Community Events Committee is expanding programming this year, with a focus on creating more consistent activity throughout the season. Plans include weekly Wednesday night movies in the newly renamed Sunset Park, along with pickleball and basketball tournaments, a village-wide yard sale, and other community-focused events.
The Bemus Point Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market will begin its second season in 2026, taking place Friday mornings from 9am-2pm in the Village’s Sunset Park, running May 29-September 4. The market continues to grow as a staple of the summer season, bringing together local farmers, bakers, and artisans in a welcoming lakeside setting. With new vendors and offerings, the market continues to build each year, adding to the charm and energy that defines Bemus Point.
Sunset Park will also host two Stir of Artists shows this summer, scheduled for July 11-12 and August 15–16. These fine art and craft shows feature artisans from Western New York and Pennsylvania and highlight a wide range of handcrafted work.
The 24th Annual Classic and Antique Boat Show, hosted by the Chautauqua Lake Twin Tier Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, will take place June 26–27, 2026. The weekend includes a Friday evening welcome party, a Saturday boat show in the park, and a boat parade on Chautauqua Lake.
Bemus Point celebrates Independence Day with its annual 4th of July Fireworks, a community-funded event that brings residents and visitors together along the lake for an evening of patriotic celebration. Taking place at 10 pm, viewers can enjoy the display from the lake or the shores of the village.
Summer Fest will take place on August 1-2 featuring a village-wide celebration of summer. This annual event includes a “Party in the Park” with live music and a community fundraiser for the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department.
Together, these events reflect the collaboration between multiple organizations working to bring energy and activity to Bemus Point, including the Bemus Point Business Association, the Village of Bemus Point, and local community partners.
