It’s the best time of year for us Halloween lovers!!! Spooky fall evenings, costumes, cider and collecting a great haul of candy. But where and when in Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties can you visit your neighbors to collect these tasty treats? Let The Villager Newspaper help you with that…
Cattaraugus County:
Ellicottville, NY: The Village of Ellicottville will have regular trick or treat hours on October 31st from 5-7:30pm, as is tradition. St. Paul’s Church in Ellicottville will again be hosting its trunk or treat, also on October 31st from 6-8pm to coincide with regular trick or treating. Make sure you stop by and see all the spooky trunk displays and grab some great treats when you visit.
Village of Cattaraugus: The Village of Cattaraugus, NY will be having trick or treat from 5:30 till 7:30 on October 31st.
Salamanca, NY: The city of Salamanca, NY will have trick or treat from 6-8pm on October 31st and the annual trunk or treat will run at the same time in Jefferson Park.
Cattaraugus County Fair Grounds, Little Valley: Rock City Chrysler will be hosting its 5th annual Trunk or Treat in the space provided by the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds and all decorated trunks provided by local businesses and clubs, from 6-8pm on October 28th.
Little Valley Bridge of Hope Church, Little Valley: If you go out trick or treating in Little Valley, NY on October 31st from 4-7pm make sure to stop and visit the Trunk or Treat event in the Little Valley Bridge of Hope Church (formerly the United Methodist Church) parking lot. Not only will there be great trunk displays and candy for the kids, but adults get coffee or tea as well.
Franklinville, NY: Located in the Park Square Historic District of Franklinville, NY 2022’s Trunk or Treat is happening on October 30th from 2-4pm. Dress the kids in their Halloween best and make sure to bring a bucket for all the treats they can collect. There will be a photo opportunity, kid’s crafts, cider and donuts and more. This event will take place rain or shine (Except in cases of extreme weather) Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 decorated trunks. Regular trick or treat hours wil be October 31st from 6-8pm.
War Veterans Park, Olean: This event sponsored by HomeCare & Hospice is taking a different spin on the Halloween events and doing a Trick or Trot on October 30th from 11-2pm. Registration is required and has a cost of $5 per child or $20 for a family package and includes an afternoon of games, crafts and lunch. All the proceeds benefit the HomeCare & Hospice Foundation. City of Olean: The City of Olean is hosting a “Spooktacular Halloween Drive-Thru” Trick or Treat Event on October 31st from 4-6pm. Mayor Bill Aiello and other volunteers will hand out free treats to vehicles on South Street beside Lincoln Park during that time. Regular trick or treating will follow directly after from 6-8pm.
Bradford, PA: Grace Lutheran Ministries in Bradford, NY is inviting everyone for some safe family fun. Candy, snacks, hotdogs, games and even Bollywood dancers will be in attendance. This year’s theme is Fairytales. For more information, contact 814-362-3244 for the church secretary. Regular citywide trick or treating is as usual, October 31st from 6:7:30pm.
Chautauqua County:
City of Jamestown: The city of Jamestown, NY’s trick or treat hours will be 6-8pm on October 31st.
Town of Celoron: Trick or treating in Celoron, NY will run 6-8pm, October 31st
Town of Frewsburg: Frewsburg, NY will host trick or treaters October 31st from 6-8pm.
Town of Falconer and Town of Ellicott: Trick or treating in both Falconer and Ellicott will be on October 31st from 5:30 to 7pm.
Lakewood and the Town of Busti: Both Lakewood, NY and Busti, NY will have trick or treating on October 31st from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
Town of Ellery & Bemus Point: Trick or treating for Bemus Point, NY and Ellery, NY are 6-8pm on October 31st.
Chautauqua Safety Village: Visit Ashville, NY on October 26th at the Chautauqua Safety Village for the annual Halloween Fun Fair from 4:30-7:30pm. Cost is $5 a person and children 2 and under are free. The admission includes trick or treating at the village buildings, crafts, train rides, kid friendly haunted house and other activities.
National Comedy Center: Jamestown’s National Comedy Center is celebrating Halloween with a “Boo Ha Ha” on October 28th through October 31st. The event features a Halloween themed museum experience for parents looking for a fun and safe alternative to trick or treating this year. Candy, a Halloween scavenger hunt, personalized comedy and immersive museum exhibits. Kids and teens up to age 17 are admitted for FREE with a purchase of an adult ticket, which is $20.50 (Up to four kids per one adult admission, excludes the Luci Desi Museum) Tickets should be reserved in advance by calling 716-484-2222.
Fenton History Center: The Fenton History Center in Jamestown is offering some safe Halloween fun on October 29th from 10-6pm. You can visit the museum with your kids and check out the Halloween display, enjoy photo opportunities, take and make activities for the kids, participate in a thrilling scavenger hunt and earn a special prize and don’t forget trick or treating from 4-6pm throughout the mansion. This is a non-scary Halloween experience everyone can enjoy. Standard admission rates apply, adults $10, children 17 and under free and members free.
Harley-Davidson of Jamestown: Located in Falconer, NY the Harley-Davidson of Jamestown is hosting their 5th Annual Trunk or Treat on October 29th from 11-2pm. People who are decorating their trunks can enter a decorated vehicle contest by contacting Kayla at 716-484-0113. (They are expecting over 200 kids, so if you are participating, make sure your candy stock is high)
Gowanda Harley-Davidson: Gowanda Harley-Davidson in Gowanda, NY is hosting their annual “Bagger’s Day” Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, October 29th from 11-3pm. People are invited to decorate their bikes and their cars and hand out treats to the kids. Prizes are awarded to best costumed rider and best decorated bike. Kids can enjoy not just free candy but also free pumpkins as well. Adults can enjoy the 20% off licensed merchandise sale.
No matter where you are in WNY, there is plenty of ways to celebrate Halloween for the kiddies. So make sure you get out there this weekend and have some fun.
