Ellicottville NY
We want to do one thing really well, and that’s snowboarding. As the area’s snowboard-only specialty shop, we curate our product selection by keeping a close eye on the vibe of the industry, what people are looking for and what the future holds. You can’t buy authenticity in snowboarding, and what we do resonates with people because we’re passionate about what we do – and we’re all snowboarders. Whether someone is coming in for the first time or a seasoned vet, we treat everyone the same because standing sideways is what brings us together.
You won’t find a better selection of hardgoods in the area. Burton, Salomon, Lib Tech, Jones and Old Growth for boards, Burton, Salomon, Bent Metal and GNU for bindings and Burton, Salomon, DC and Vans for boots. Most of the boots we sell come with BOA, which is a twist-to-tighten dial system.
New and exciting? Burton Step On is now in its 5th season, and talk about an absolute home run. The boot-binding system couples’ convenience with performance and eliminates the need to strap in. Three points of engagement — one on the heel, and two on the toes — provide a locked-in fit without sacrificing the torsional response you’d get with a traditional two-strap. We offer Step On from Burton and DC, and we’ve got a full demo fleet for anyone who wants to come and try it.
We’ve got a full room of helmets and goggles from Giro, Oakley, Smith and Anon. The Oakley Mod7 eliminates a goggle strap, where the goggle attaches directly to the helmet. Anon’s M-Series gives you fully magnetic lens change, and all of them include an MFI (Magnetic Facemask Integration) mask. Smith and Giro give you great pricepoint options as well as models that come with two lenses for variable light conditions.
For the past few years, we’ve been hearing about this guy who’s been custom-building skis in Buffalo. His name is Jon Capozzi, and he is Old Growth Handcraft. Last season, he approached us about wanting to build a snowboard. We sat down, spec’d some stuff out and he got to work. While a lot of our guys absolutely love the board he built, we knew that from a retail standpoint it was too stiff. So, we went back to the drawing board, dialed in the shape, picked out the topsheet material (after going through about 50 species of wood) before settling on the final build design. Jon’s shop is located on Exchange Street in Buffalo, and we figured that would be an awesome name. They’re now in the shop in 155, 158 and 161W centimeter lengths, and we do have a demo for anyone that wants to come try one out.
