The presentations in the “Summer at the Stone House” event series at the Cattaraugus County Museum involve an interesting variety of subjects. The discussions, program and performance are all free and open to the public, and all begin on Thursday evenings at 7pm.

The next one, on June 22nd, features a performance of the music of the Erie Canal by the musician and educator Dave Ruch, who is based in Buffalo. The one after that, on July 13th, is all about “Haunted Western New York”. For the third year in a row, writer Amanda Woomer will talk about this area’s supernatural background.

Who needs air conditioning when her talks can send chills up your spine? Here’s what she has to say about this year’s talk:

June 22nd, features a performance of the music of the Erie Canal by the musician and educator Dave Ruch, who is based in Buffalo.

“I am returning to the Stone House series for the third year in a row to talk about legends, lore and ghost stories of Cattaraugus County. I will be highlighting fivehaunted locations found in the region, and sharing their history, as well as some of the ghost stories surrounding the locations”

“Every year that I have offered these lectures”, she continued, “it’s always been a full house. I’m looking forward to returning for the third year in a row to share all-new

haunted locations”. For more information about Woomer, go to www.SpookEats.com.

On July 27th, the subject will be tavern music of the 18th century, and the speaker will be musician and educator Ron Cary. August 10th, quilt appraiser and educator Linda Hunter will talk about the various uses for five-inch squares in quilting, and on August 24th, professional genealogist and educator Jeanette Sheliga will present a program about using newspapers to conduct genealogical research.
