Let’s get out and enjoy the beautiful summer weather. Everyone is looking for a great way to spend the weekends. Something relaxing, fun, maybe do a bit of shopping. Well, Bemus Point Park in Bemus Point NY is hosting the perfect event for all of those things. A Stir of Artists returns for two weekends, July 16th and 17th and August 20th and 21st. The annual event brings fine artisans into the scenic park to display and sell their wares. And parking and admission is FREE! Hours are 11-5pm each day, rain or shine. The Villager had a chance to speak with coordinator Clair Hansen about what the 2022 weekends have to offer.
The Villager (V): This is the 12th Annual Stir of Artists; what is new for 2022?
Clair (C): “We have 15 new artists this year, showcasing a variety of different mediums.”
V: There is a wide variety of artisans, could you give us some detailed descriptions of a few?
C: “We have mixed media like making dolls, pottery, painting, jewelry making, wood carvers and bowl makers and more; no two artists are alike. Artists will be set up demonstrating their skills and exhibitors will have artworks for sale. Guaranteed to find something to excite every shopper.”
V: Will there be food and beverages available?
C: “No not at the show. There are many great local restaurants in Bemus that will be open for our guests to visit for a drink or a nice meal.”
V: Is this a family friendly event? If yes, is there anything specifically geared towards those of a younger age?
C: “It is absolutely a family event!! We even love seeing the furry family members as well. We have a Henna painter that will be here this year. For the August show.”
V: What do you feel makes this event worth visiting?
C: “We have several talented artists in this area. We enjoy making the items that we make. It is a very personal thing that we do and as mentioned, no two artists are alike; we might do the same thing but for example I make jewelry but my craft is different from say Peggy Houser, who has been with this show from the start, she makes beautiful beaded jewelry that is a must see!! And Cheryl Swanson who makes silverware jewelry and figurines, from silverware that will make you smile just have to have one. Wait until you see what the new artists are bringing. Both July 16th -17th and August 20th & 21st shows will give you different artists.”
V: Anything else to add?
C: “All I can say is that we put our heart into making our art and we hope everyone will appreciate and love what they buy from us for years. We look forward to everyone in our local and distant communities visiting us at Stir of Artists 2022.”
