Now that the Olmsted Gallery in the Springville Center for the Arts has been completely renovated, it is the perfect setting for prestigious art events such as the one happening at the end of October. On Saturday, October 21, from 1-2pm, six artists will participate in a discussion of their artwork there. Each one is an Exhibiting Artist whose work is now on display in the 127th Catalogue Exhibition of the prestigious Buffalo Society of Artists. The Society is one of the oldest art organizations in the United States, and its goals include advancing artistic visions and presenting traditional art of the highest quality. Artists in their past exhibits included the very famous names and incredible painters, Claude Monet, the founder of French impressionist painting, and Charles Burchfield, who worked with watercolors, and painted scenes in nature and towns.
The artists who will be speaking on the 21st include: Jeffrey Barnes, a photographer who specializes in fine art, sports and portrait photography; Christina Paul, whose specialties are collage and painting; Sara Baker Michalak, who creates assemblages, collages and paintings; John Hafey, who takes nature photos; Frani Evedon, who creates abstract photos, and Norma Joy, who creates abstract paintings.
On November 4th, exhibiting members and influential artists who helped make the Springville Center for the Arts what it is today will take part in a special Founders’ Show, which will go from 6:30-8pm. The exhibit, will run from November 1st to December 23rd, and will focus on the people who helped make the Springville Center for the Arts the special, vibrant, and expanding organization it is today. The work on exhibit encompasses various kinds of artistic expression. On December 6th there will be an Artist Night, featuring a panel of artists who will elaborate about the history of the center.
If you attend these artistic events at the transformed gallery, you can enjoy not only lively discussion, art appreciation, and art education, but also the beauty of the transformed center itself!
The Olmsted Gallery is located at 37 North Buffalo Street, In Springville, NY.
