Now that the fall season is in full swing, and the weather has taken a turn, many of us are looking for some indoor entertainment. Read on to see some of the great music and arts entertainment in Chautauqua County this weekend.
Music loving fans will be in for a treat as Donna the Buffalo is coming to Jamestown. While doing a national tour, this highly regarded concert band is coming to the Spire Theater on Third Street on November 4. Donna the Buffalo was formed in the late 1980s, and they have been entertaining audiences ever since. They are considered an eclectic jam band, with their unique blend of original songs and cover versions. They play a combination of music that has a basis in rock, folk, bluegrass, reggae, country, and zydeco. They have become one of the most respected and beloved bands in the Americana music scene. Many local music lovers have seen them at the annual Blue Heron Festival, and the band members really enjoy coming back to this area to perform.
To add to the excitement of the event, the Probables will get the audience warmed up for the main act. The Probables started their band in 2016, and their music has elements of folk, rock, reggae, bluegrass and funk. They are a popular local band that plays at bars and events in the Jamestown area. The Probables are a good compliment to Donna the Buffalo, ensuring an exciting night of live music to get you moving to the beat. The doors open at 6pm and there is a preshow performance by Derek Davis. The Probables will perform at 7pm, and Donna the Buffalo will take the stage at 8:30. Presale tickets are $35 and $40 at the door.
Also taking place on November 4, is an event called An Evening of Dance and Conversation at Chautauqua Institution.This event will begin with a dance performance at 4pm at the Carnahan Jackson Dance Studio. Choreographed by Ronald K. Brown, there will be a blend of the Malpaso Dance Company and his own Evidence dancers, in a performance called Percussion Bitter Sweet.
After the performance, the audience may have interactions with the dancers. There will be a dinner at the Hotel Atheneum, starting with a cash bar at 6pm, and then a four-course dinner at 7pm. You can choose to have the unique experience of dining with one of the dancers at your table. The dance performance is $29 and 69$ for a combination of dance performance and dinner. Get ready for a one of kind show in downtown Jamestown on November 3. The performance of iLuminate will amaze you with their exhilarating performance at the Reg Lenna Performing Arts Center. iLuminate will entertain you with an electrified glow in the dark performance of dance and illusions on a dark stage. They use a combination of technology, music, lights and dance that will surely excite and awaken your senses and imagination. The show is unique and not like any other dance performance you have ever seen. iLuminate was famously featured on TV shows such as America’s Got Talent, Dancing with the Stars, and the Nickelodeon Awards. If you’re looking for some lighthearted family fun, you might enjoy Mr. Crites and Woodhead: Masters of Mayhem and Sons of Vaudeville. This show will have you laughing the night away with this duo’s interactions. They use a mixture of comedy, music, circus and vaudeville entertainment, along with a little bit of wackiness, that is sure to entertain the whole family. This event will be held at the Rockefeller Arts Center in Fredonia on Saturday November 4. A matinee show will be at 2pm and an evening performance will be at 7pm.
