MACHAIS, NY – This September mark your calendar for Fall Feast and Festivities at the Lucky Day Homestead on Saturday the 30th. The evening will be Viking themed complete with dinner, entertainment and dancing, the first of many feast festivities to be held at the Homestead.
Owner and experienced caterer Emily Theresa has put together a farm to table menu featuring local farms including locally sourced roasted chicken, salmon and pulled pork, roasted vegetables, wild game minced meat pie, a large charcuterie board and more. A full dessert table will include honey bars, Scandinavian raspberry tarts and nut breads.
Chefs with be on site to discuss the menu including edible flowers, garden fresh herbs and foraged foods. “It’s a great opportunity to learn more about self-sustainability and naturally resourced foods in the area. There’s so much readily available just outside our doors that many aren’t aware of.”
The meal, along with the evening festivities, will be Viking themed. Guests are encouraged to wear Viking attire, and there will be make-up artists and braiding hairstylists on site to complete your ensemble (for a small charge). Live entertainment will feature Griffin Brady Drum Core from Rochester, NY playing Viking genre beats as well as Belly Dancers. “The entertainment will be awesome, we want everyone to get out on the dance floor and have a good time, dancing the night away!”
The Homestead is located at 5111 Roszyk Hill Road in Machais on 30 acres of beautiful rolling hills. The Fall Feast and Festivities will be held in the 1920’s barn embellished with rustic elegant décor surrounded by the beautifully recovered estate. The Homestead is self-sustaining. With the exception of meat, Emily grows everything she and her family eats. “It’s incredibly rewarding and therapeutic. I love living this way and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
It is the first of many themed events Emily is planning at the Homestead. “My hope is to run seasonally themed festivities throughout the year. We’d love to bring in local breweries, distilleries and farms to sell their goods at the festival. It’s such a great way to get the community together and showcase local farms as well as the homestead.”
Lucky Day Homestead also offers foraging classes, cooking and gardening workshops throughout the year and also offers private chef services in the Ellicottville Area, for folks who would like an experience in their chalet. Upcoming fall classes include seed collecting and preserving, and make sure to order your Thanksgiving pies and holiday desserts. The Homestead also hosts couples in their Airbnb Cabin… and coordinates elopements for couples who want to celebrate their day on a relaxed and full exclusive basis.
