EVL Village Life: View from My Porch
Getting the ‘Scoop’ at The Tee Bar

Spread the love

By, Gary Malicki

I always find myself getting a little dressed up when walking through Main Street in the village.  I don’t mean like anything fancy, just a little more upscale from the sweats that I usually only wear at home.

On today’s short walk from my front porch, I’m sporting shorts and a light casual V-neck pullover that I’m sure I’ll drip a little ice cream on as I venture into The Tee Bar at 8 Washington Street.

The Tee Bar is located at
8 Washington Street in
Ellicottville, NY 14731.
They can be reached
at (716) 699-9079 or
you can find them on
Facebook.

When you step into this eclectic, yet semi-retro shop, you’re surrounded by vibrant color.  From the orange, brown, yellow and red stripes that flow from half of the ceiling to the strips of colorful wallpaper that enhances the other side of the room.  It just has such a fun feel when you enter.

I’m immediately greeted by an exuberant Sara Goode, the store’s manager. When you step into this eclectic, yet semi-retro shop, you’re surrounded by vibrant color.     I’m immediately greeted by an exuberant Sara Goode, the store’s manager.  Upon meeting her I had an immediate vibe that screams of her enthusiasm for assisting customers.  Having previously left town to spend some time in Oregon, she came back home to EVL and is now at the right place at the right time.

Sara is always happy to serve up any of their fabulous sundaes that include The Brownie Delight, Cookies & Crème or S’mores.  I also felt like I’ll eventually have to sample the caramel and chocolate pretzels.

Sara and I talked about the elimination of the ‘Choco-Taco’ from the marketplace…but not to worry.  With the help of a Belgian waffle mix you can enjoy the Tee Bar’s own hand-crafted Choco-Taco!  If ever a friend should say, “I wish I can still get one of those”, you’ll know what to tell them!

Sara is genuinely proud of the fact that they incorporate local regional businesses into the creation of their product.  As an example, for toppings, Sara said they use PDI Cone of Buffalo.  It’s a company run by a man originally from Ellicottville.  What a great connection.  They also feature ice cream cakes, soft serve and various delish novelties…but that’s not all.

This truly unique shop is chock-full of any kind of EVL souvenirs your mind can imagine.  You’re surrounded by T-shirts, sweats, shorts, sweaters, hats and much more as their clothing selection is really impressive.  If you look past all the clothing check out their selection of magnets, stickers, coasters, signs, shot glasses and, yes, even pillows and ornaments for your Christmas tree.  Everything you can think of to promote our wonderful village.

I also learned the name of the shop is a combination of an old school ski term “T-Bar” which is a kind of ski lift of the past.  Combine that with the concept of an ice cream bar and voila…you got it!

Thank you for the tour and the info, Sara.  Your energy is quite contagious. And, oh yeah, thanks for the ice cream.  I was treated to a scoop in one of their delicious waffle cones and, yep, I did drip just a little on my shirt on the walk back home.  It was like I had a premonition that would happen and didn’t mind at all.
