-Kate Bartlett-

Monica Harrington is the owner and founder of Reflections Hair Design located at 39 Mill Street in the village of Ellicottville. Reflections is a full-service salon offering the very best with experienced stylists ready to exceed your expectations.

Monica was inspired by her mom, who was also a hairstylist. “I watched my mom cutting and styling hair ever since I was a little girl, and I knew that one day I wanted to be a hairdresser too.” She opened the salon 20 years ago in the same location where it stands today. She now has two employees in addition to herself- Sarah Smith (stylist) and Tracy Keys (manicurist). Reflections is a full-service salon offering haircuts for men, women, and children, color services, perms, manicures and pedicures in a casual, relaxing atmosphere.

Watching her mom as a young girl, learning the ropes, then opening her own salon, Monica is certainly experienced in the industry. She loves how the business is always changing. It has changed and evolved over the past 20 years, but some things remain the same. “Styles are always changing. When I first started doing hair, the most popular hair style was the “Jennifer Aniston” hair cut from the Friends TV show. Now 20 years later, it’s all coming back around again. All styles and all colors end up making it back around.”

Monica loves being a part of the Ellicottville community. “I love how there is always something going on in Ellicottville year-round. I love the small-town feel, everyone really makes you feel welcome.” Growing up in Great Valley and graduating from Ellicottville Central Schools, Monica has deep roots in the community, and is proud to have her business here in her hometown.

Visit Monica and her crew at 39 Mill Street or call (716) 699-8757 open 9-5 daily, except Sunday and Monday.
