This past week, the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce met to discuss their busy summer schedule of events. It’s sure to be another exciting season full of music and family fun for all.

“With all of the Chamber sponsored events and the great schedules for outdoor enthusiasts at Holiday Valley and HoliMont, this summer will be one to remember. With folks staying closer to home due to high gas prices, our marketing team is making sure travelers have Ellicottville on their radar”, notes Brian McFadden, Executive Director of the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce.

Mark your calendars for the second annual Red Head Days June 18-19th. Last year was such a success, that the chamber is looking forward to bringing a fun filled weekend with different fun and safe activities to celebrate all the red heads (including red wigs). Last year’s highlights included a Red Head Run, prizes in various festive categories, bar and restaurant specials and vendor specials. Details are still being finalized but can be found on the chamber event website, along with festive merchandise for purchase.

Perhaps the most anticipated event of the season is the Summer Music Festival July 1-3. Every year, the chamber brings legendary bands to play on the slopes of Holiday Valley and this year is no exception.  “This is an amazing weekend”, stated McFadden, “we’ve been doing this for over 25 years, you can bring your chairs, blankets, picnic baskets and there are no parking fees; it’s a one-of-a-kind event for the whole family.” This year, the chamber is proud to host “Voices of Classic Rock” featuring Practically Petty, an acclaimed Tom Petty tribute band, followed by Asia featuring John Payne with special guests John Elefante, former lead singer of Kansas, and Lou Gramm, the voice of Foreigner. Details and tickets for the 3-day music event can be found on the chamber website.

Last but not least, the Chamber discussed details for their annual Jazz & Blues Weekend July 29-31. This weekend is not to be missed, as a boutique experience wandering through the village sampling performances from local and renowned Jazz and Blues artists. Venues include village restaurants, bars, street-side stages and nightclub style lounges. Everything is easily within walking distance, making it easy to enjoy the music and the fresh mountain air. Watch for shop and vendor specials, more details on band schedules to be released closer to the event.

The Chamber has worked hard to make and keep Ellicottville a destination for all seasons, and this summer will again prove that the slopes are not just for skiing! Visitors and locals alike look forward to these and other annual traditions, and they’ve become woven in the fabric of the Ellicottville community. Be sure to mark your calendars for these upcoming events, and watch for further updates and the season rolls along. There’s always something happening in EVL
