Crown Street Roasting Company is a specialty coffee roaster, located in downtown Jamestown at 16 W 3rd Street. It has been there for about six years. During most of that time, Nick Certo was an employee at Crown Street. He started as a barista, and then he worked his way up to be the manager. When the previous owners decided that they wanted to sell the business, Nick and his wife Mikayla decided to purchase it. They bought the roasting company in February of 2023. Mikayla decided to quit her previous full-time job, and now she works full time alongside her husband operating the roasting company.

Nick and Mikayla Certo bought the roasting
company in February of 2023 after Nick had
been working there for several years. They
are proud to be part of the downtown Jamestown
revitalization that has been happening in
the last few years.

At Crown Street Roasting, you can order at the counter and get takeout, or you can come in and stay

awhile in the comfortable and cozy sitting area. It has seating for thirty to forty people, including counter seating, table seating, and a small couch sitting area. They roast their coffee beans on site, and the coffee is made from the highest rated coffee. They also have specialty coffees, a full espresso bar, teas and spritzers, as well as cold and hot latte beverages. Along with their coffee and other beverages, they also have a food menu. Their menu includes breakfast and lunch sandwiches on bagels or multigrain toast, a couple of salads, and soup.

When talking about their business, Mikayla said, “Crown Street Roasting is a unique place. It’s a clean and comfortable café, that is modern and has a relaxed vibe. You can come in and sit to unwind and enjoy your coffee and food. It’s a calm place to come and use the free Wi-Fi, to focus on getting some work done, or talk with coworkers.”

Nick and Mikayla feel that they have had great success in the first few months of owning this business. They feel that their success is due to the consistency of great quality of coffee, food and service that they provide. Mikayla said, “Our success is partly because of the incredible staff that we have. They are passionate about their jobs. They have helped come up with some cool ideas to help make the café a great business.”

She went on to say that they have a diverse customer base. It mostly includes downtown businesspeople, but also includes local teachers, high school students, commuters, and people that work in the City Hall as well as others in the community.

If you are interested in brewing your own coffee, they have small bags of coffee for you to purchase. As you walk in, you will also see that there is a small display of other items to buy. They sell items that could be gifts, such as mugs and hats, that have the Crown Street Roasting Company logo on them.

Nick and Mikayla are proud to be part of the downtown Jamestown revitalization that has been happening in the last few years. Many years ago, as Lakewood became the central area for shopping and dining, the downtown area had a drastic decrease of small businesses. In recent years, there has been a new trend to revitalize the downtown business sector. Crown Street Roasting is now part of that revitalization. They are happy to be among the other restaurants and retail stores that are helping bring downtown Jamestown back to the thriving downtown dining and shopping area it once was.

Crown Street Roasting Company is open seven days a week, except for major holidays. During the weekdays, they are open from 7am-2pm. On weekends, they are open from 8am-2pm. If you want more information, you can go to crownstreetroasting.com. They also have Facebook and Instagram pages.

The next time you are in the downtown Jamestown area, you should go to Crown Street Roasting Company. You can go in to get a quick coffee take-out, or come on in to hang out and enjoy this cozy coffee café in downtown Jamestown.
