On March 1st, there will be a special evening of comedy improvisation at Art’s Cafe in Springville, presented by WNY Improv. At the show, performers will ask the audience to suggest topics and ideas that they will then incorporate into scenes they act out or acting games they play. Every show is entirely made up from whatever audience suggestions they consider the most intriguing, as soon as they’re made. In short, the evening is sure to offer a whole lot of unpredictable fun. The performers who will appear are:
Rich Lamb, who has performed as a Stand-Up Comedian and Comedy Improv performer throughout the Country and is a successful comedy writer. Mike Kowal, who is a long time Comedy Improv performer and member of the Screen Actors Guild, and has appeared on television, on stage and on the big screen. Justin Chortie, who has performed Comedy Improv for over a decade, as well as appearing onstage and in film. Connie Stofko, who is a Comedy Improv performer and writer. Kathleen Brown, who like Eileen Stevic, is a long-time comedic performer and actor who has appeared in, written and directed several Dinner Theater shows.
When audiences get the chance to shout out subjects for versatile actors to include in improvised scenes, their ideas can get pretty wild. Just to give you the idea, varied location suggestions they’ve received over the years have included: Jupiter’s Moon Europa, Chernobyl and the White House Lawn. Asking for names has gotten them suggestions as wide-ranging as President James K Polk, and the cartoon character Wile E Coyote. WNY IMPROV has performed throughout New York State as well as in Pennsylvania, Myrtle Beach, the Orlando Comedy Festival in Orlando, Florida, and in Ontario, Canada. Collectively, the players have appeared in dozens of films, dinner theater productions, theater, commercials and TV productions.
As well as enjoying the comedy, you can enjoy the baked goods and snacks at Art’s Cafe. On Fridays, their scrumptious baked goods include: Springville Sourdough, 3-Seed, Deli Rye, Soft Pretzels and Morning Buns.
