The Sleeping Lady of Springville Offers Great Variety
By Barbara Arnstein
The Sleeping Lady is a convenient drive-through place to get coffee and snacks in Springville and so much more than that! It opened in November 2020 and has been very popular ever since.
When the manager, Elizabeth Andrews, her husband and their three kids moved to Springville from Anchorage, Alaska to reconnect with family, they saw a need for simpler local caffeine-fueling and decided to fill it by opening their own shop, named after a mountain range in Alaska.
Customers can choose from eighty different choices of espresso syrups, including apple, cheesecake, peanut butter, cupcake, French toast, almond and pomegranate, to flavor their espressos, and syrups can be combined.
“A shot of espresso has as much caffeine as an eight-ounce cup of black coffee”, said Ms. Andrews. “We customize each shot ourselves, and adjust the grind ourselves. Everything we serve is all about high quality and convenience. Our signature drink has brown sugar and cold foam with whipped cream.”
The other beverages include Cappuccinos, Italian Sodas, Redbull Italian Sodas, Matcha Lattes, Chai Tea Lattes, and Hot Chocolate. The snacks range from chocolate chip cookies and blondies to croissants, muffins and more.
“We have a rotational menu with seasonal items”, she said. “The macaroons are pistachio, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, and other flavors. You can get a bagel with American, cheddar or pepper jack. We are looking to work with a local bakery”, continued Ms. Andrews. “The kitchen must be certified with Erie County. We’d like to offer more baked goods, cookies, sandwiches and even deli sandwiches. We’re open to pretty much anything. We’ve just started offering easy-to-eat Omelet Bites. They combine cheese, bacon and eggs, and they’re Oreo-sized”.
She went on, “We put stickers on the coffee cups and people can have advertising messages put on them”, she added, “Up to twelve words an a logo, or greetings such as ‘Congratulations’ or ‘Happy Birthday. Some customers collect them. What we most like to do is put smiles on people’s faces There’s so much negativity in the world now and we want to help get rid of that”.
“I love that the customers aren’t afraid to ask for what they want”, said Ms. Andrews. “We’re constantly bringing in new things”.
