It’s back and better than ever!! What am I talking about? Only one of the biggest events in Sherman, NY. The Blue Heron Music Festival returns 2022 from July 1st till the 3rd. And it’s an event you don’t want to miss. This is an Americana style music festival that’s located at 2361 Waits Corners Rd, Sherman NY, 14781. But it’s also more than that. It’s a festival with 2 stages, three days and nights of epic family friendly fun.
The stage line-up is strong this year, with headliner Donna the Buffalo. The band has played thousands of shows and countless festivals including Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Telluride, Austin City Limits Festival, Merle Fest, and Philadelphia Folk Festival. They’ve opened for The Dead and have toured with Peter Rowan, Del McCoury, Los Lobos, Little Feat, Jim Lauderdale, Rusted Root, and Railroad Earth to name a few. They also toured with Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen to help raise awareness about increased corporate spending in politics. There is also Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Driftwood, The Town Pants and many more performers over the course of the weekend.
Main Stage: Friday, July 1st: 3-4 Nick & Oliver, 4:30-5:30 Stewed Mulligan, 6-7:30 The Probables, 8-9:30 Dr Bacon and 10-11:30 Rev Payton Big Damn Band.
Saturday, July 2nd: 12-1 Tiger Maple String Band, 2-3 Richie and Rosie, 4-5 New Planets, 6-7 Rose & The Bros, 8-9:30 The Town Pants and 10-11:30 Donna the Buffalo.
Sunday, July 3rd: 11-12 Bill Ward & Friends, 12-1 Julia, 1:30-3 Driftwood and 4:30-6 Donna the Buffalo.
But that’s not all the festival has to offer. You can’t forget the late-night dance tent, which will feature many locally known artists. On Friday, from 9-10:30 Uncle Ben’s Remedy will be live followed by Buffalo Zydeco from 11:30pm-4am. Saturday hosts a lot of groups. Julia is on from 12:30-2, Stewed Mulligan from 3-4, Orquesta La Muralla 5-6, Driftwood 7-8:30, PA Line 9-10:30 and The Comb Down from 11-3am. Sunday has New Planets from 1-2 and Sun King Warriors from 3-4:30.
Apart from the music, there will be a drum circle, a kid’s tent for the little ones in the family and so much more. There will be 24 vendors this year. One of them is Full Moon Rising Bakery which will be at the festival all three days with their mobile dessert trailer, Full Moon Star Ship offering Sweet Tacos, Sundae Bowls and more. Just to name a few others, NY Pizzeria, Copper House Coffee Roasters, Wildflower Beads, Nadine Essra Designs and Spinnin’ Threads will be slinging their creations.
