The Blue-Eyed Baker has been a local East Aurora favorite for 10 years, however, the café has recently gained more attention with their new address and expanded menu. Their cozy café has grown into a modern restaurant with expanded seating, including rooftop, with menu options for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, in addition to their bakery and specialty beverages.

Owner and founder Alex Robinson sought to bring
a world of baking to her hometown. From the
cobbled streets of Paris to the bustling avenues
of Los Angeles, Alex traveled the world collecting
inspiration for her café. “In our kitchen, we mix
local ingredients with love, creating pastries that
are as rich in history as they are in flavor,” says
Alex.

The Blue-Eyed Baker originally opened at Underhill House in East Aurora in 2015. Owner and founder Alex Robinson sought to bring a world of baking to her hometown. From the cobbled streets of Paris to the bustling avenues of Los Angeles, Alex traveled the world collecting inspiration for her café. “In our kitchen, we mix local ingredients with love, creating pastries that are as rich in history as they are in flavor,” says Alex.

The café recently expanded, moving to a new location at 636 E Fillmore Street in the village of East Aurora, and now offers an all-day menu with many new additions that are all made from scratch. Selections include artisanal pizzas, comforting soups, fresh salads, stuffed French toast, savory breakfast sandwiches and more. The café now features a 30-foot bar with a rotating selection of local beers and specialty cocktails as well as rooftop seating with full-table service. The first floor continues to offer more casual seating, as well as an outdoor patio. The bakery menu continues to impress with incredible Brioche cinnamon buns, and an expansive selection of macaroons.

Family is at the heart of the bakery. “Family isn’t just an idea, it’s our way of life,” says Alex. “We want everyone who visits to feel welcome, and comfortable.” As a mom herself, Alex has designed their new space to be family-friendly, with various seating options, high chairs and even a kids kitchen play set. “I want families to have fun at our café,” says Alex. “Maybe they’ll get inspired to get creative in the kitchen too!”

The café also hosts a variety of classes for all ages and abilities ranging from cakes, macaroons, cookie decorating, sourdough and date night pizza classes. “Our classes are a fun and interactive way for us to share our love for baking, and gather people together.”

Blue Eyed Baker prides themselves on using pure, local ingredients. They aim to elevate the simple pleasure of baked goods to an art form, without sacrificing their values. The team is committed to making the experience wholesome and delicious. “Every day, we aim to be better,” says Alex. “We cherish the collaborative spirit of our team, and foster a workplace of harmony and dedication. We’re all brought together by the love of baking.”

Alex’s favorite thing about her job is the people. “I love my job because of the connections I have made with people inside and outside of the workplace,” says Alex.  “The bright environment and warm love that comes from our kitchen is what makes every day a new exciting adventure!”
