The Bemus Point Market has been a local tradition on Chautauqua Lake for many years. It is one of the top sellers of Perry’s 3-glallon Ice Cream in the area, carrying over 40 different flavors of premium ice cream. In addition to a wide selection of grocery items and large beer assortment, The Bemus Point Market now offers lunch and dinner take-out options including Bird Shack Chicken and Holy Guacamole Mexican Taco Bar.

The Bemus Point Market is a well-known local grocery market. It became popular for its Perry’s ice cream selection, and people came from far and wide to sample a large variety of flavors. Greg Huber and family are currently the sole owners and proprietors of the market, as they took ownership of the property 2 years ago. After a few years of retirement, Greg decided to take on the market in 2023, bringing 50 years of business experience to the venture. “The Bemus Market is one of a kind,” says Greg. “It’s a piece of history right here in Bemus Point, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”

Greg spends the winter months in Vero Beach, Florida, but calls Chautauqua Lake home during the summer months. His daughter, Carrie, and son-in-law, Jason Yohe, help run the market year-round. “Jason is a beer man,” says Greg. “He keeps the beer selection of the market well stocked. He is familiar with a wide variety of beer, and knows what people want.” Greg’s wife, Mary, also helps at the market, along with his grandkids, Ellery and Kyle, who have been ice cream scoopers for over 3 years. “It’s a family business,” says Greg. “We’re not in it for the money; it’s about making people happy.”

Recently, The Bemus Point Market added a variety of take-out options to their
selection. “We’ve always had the deli counter, but we wanted to add something
new and different for our customers,” says owner Greg Huber (left). On
May 19th, the market offi cially introduced Bird Shack Fried Chicken meals.
This brand is well-known for their double breaded chicken, cooked in a specialty
fryer.

The market carries a wide variety of grocery items, propane, ice, an expansive craft, and local beer assortment, as well as the largest selection of Perry’s Ice Cream in the area. “We are proud to be one of the top sellers of Perry’s Ice Cream,” says Greg. “People come from not only neighboring towns and cities for our ice cream, but states like Wisconsin, Ohio, even Texas and China. Perry’s Ice Cream is incredible; you just cannot beat this premium brand.” With over 40 flavors to choose from, guests enjoy returning again and again, sampling something new. “The ice cream is good, and we always serve with a smile. It is simply the best!”

There is also a chicken sandwich option and corn dogs.

Starting Thursday, June 6th, the market launched a Mexican food line, Wholly Guacamole. offering made-to-order tacos, burritos, and salads with fresh ingredients. “It’s just another way we’re continuing to bring high-quality food options to our customers,” says Greg.

Greg listens to the community and takes notice of what would best meet their needs. “It’s about helping people,” says Greg. “We don’t see ourselves as competition to other businesses. We’re here to enhance the offerings in the area, bringing new food items and take out options.”

Greg’s favorite thing about the market is being a part of the Bemus Point community. “I really enjoy being a part of this town and living by the lake,” says Greg. “People here are happy and relaxed. They truly embrace their small-town charm and lake life.” Greg also appreciates being close to family. “It is an incredible community for my daughter to be raising her family. It’s about being together.”
