Summer has come to an end and the changing of the seasons is now upon us. If you are looking for something fun to do on a beautiful autumn day, just head south of Jamestown to 2061 Foote Avenue Extension. There you will find that Basil and Bones will be celebrating with its Second Annual Fall Festival on Sunday, September 22, from 12-6pm. This fun fall festival will have of a variety of activities for young and old alike.
One of the main attractions of this fall festival is that it has a lot of free, fun activities for children to participate in. There will be a pumpkin party from 12-6pm, with hundreds of free pumpkins and paint (while supplies lasts) for the kids to get creative with. This will also include face painting from 2-5pm. Children can enjoy a petting zoo all afternoon. To top that off, Marty’s Bubblegum Machine will put on two shows, with the first show starting at 1pm. This show is an interactive dance party for children, and features lots of fun music and dancing, tons of bubbles, and a lot of shenanigans. The more the children participate, the more fun the party will be. With all of these fun activities, it will surely keep your little ones entertained all afternoon.
Another highlight of this festival will be the live music entertainment. Music by Charity Nuse and Sara Rafalowski will kick off the festival, and they will be performing from 12-3pm. This talented duo plays a versatile mix of Americana, folk, blues, country, and rock that has entertained audiences for years. Then from 3:30-6:30pm, another talented local duo, OsbornNash will be performing. They play original music as well as some selected covers, all having a country, Americana, rock, and jazzy folk flare. Come and listen to the afternoon’s great music by all of these talented musicians. DJ Carmello will also be playing some music off and on throughout the festival.
When you have worked up an appetite, Basil and Bones will be providing a variety of foods, such as their delicious BBQ menu, pizza, smothered fries, Italian sausage, burgers, and much more. To satisfy your sweet tooth, there will be fresh baked goods, fried dough, apple pie, and cannoli. The Cups and Cones Ice Cream Truck will be there serving whatever ice cream treats you are hungry for. Pepsi products as well as beer and wine will be available. Basil and Bones will also be making their very own wine slushes. What would a festival be without all of these great foods, treats, and beverages!
There will be plenty of vendors set up on the grounds. Last year, this festival had over fifty vendors that participated, and this year they are expecting the same or more. There are many artisan vendors selling a variety of items such as artworks, candles, jewelry, home décor, clothing, accessories, specialty items, and a whole lot more. You can browse around the vendors at your leisure and maybe find that special gift for a loved one or something nice for yourself.
You may not be able to park super close to the event, and it is encouraged that you park in the field parking lot. Miss Joanie will be providing free rides in her golf cart limousine to transport you and your group from the parking lot to the event area. It should also be noted that pets are allowed, but please no outside food or beverages.
