The City Garage will again host their annual movie screening at The Depot on Saturday, November 5th at 7pm, with doors opening at 5pm. This year’s movie will be the ski thriller “Anywhere from Here” by Matchstick productions, who have been producing ski movies for over 20 years. This movie has been awarded ‘ski movie of the year’ and will be sure to entertain and get everyone pumped up for the upcoming ski season.
“The sport of skiing is unquestionably one of the most diversified recreational pursuits imaginable. By the time a lifelong skier reaches middle age, they have likely dabbled in or fully dedicated themselves to a myriad of facets within the sport. Each facet provides an entirely new set of experiences, thrills, challenges and rewards.”
“Anywhere from Here” explores this world of opportunities through the eyes of a 12-year-old freestyle phenomenon. Though his voice, the audience hears the skiing aspiration of a kid who just wants to play and doesn’t have to ponder ‘real life’ quite yet. The core of this film is packed with a star-studded cast of skiers shredding across the globe.” Watch the full trailer at https://matchstickpro.com/anywhere-from-here/
Matchstick productions (MSP) was founded by Steve Winter in 1991 with his friend Murry Wais. Over the years, they have been awarded numerous accolades for their films. MSP has also become renowned for their services outside of the ski scene as a fully equipped production boutique.
Last year, the event was held at Holiday Valley. The Depot is happy to again be hosting this year’s screening and offer their full menu of pizza, wings, and other classic favorites. The show will be played outdoors if the weather permits, but the main screen will be shown inside. The City Garage has put together raffle prizes including ski merchandise and gift cards for local businesses. Anyone who purchases a $20 raffle ticket has the chance to win a pair of high-end skis. And don’t forget the bird! There’ll also be a raffle for a frozen turkey for Thanksgiving.
“It’s a great event, we love hosting with The Depot and getting everyone together to celebrate the upcoming ski season,” says Trey Clauss, manager of The City Garage and organizer of the event. Come on out and join the festivities this Saturday at 5pm, with the movie starting at 7pm.
