Peek n’ Peak in Clymer, New York will be kicking off the spring season with its annual Spring Fest. This event will be held on March 15th – March 17th with activities in various locations around the grounds. The activities are free and open to all ages. There will be a wide variety of activities included in the festival. Read on to see what the first Spring Festival of the season has to offer.
On Friday night, there will be the Kickoff Celebration starting at 7pm. An Erie band called Theory of Evolution will be performing from 7pm-10pm in the Retreat Building. This large band plays cover music of diverse genres spanning over many decades, so there’s sure to be tunes for everyone to enjoy.
The festival really gets going on Saturday with the Cardboard Box Derby that will take place on the Tubing Hill. It will start promptly at 11am, with registration beforehand at 9:30am. Your vehicle must primarily be made from cardboard, no wider than twelve feet, and must be able to withstand more than one trek down the hill. The vehicle must carry at least one person and no more than six people. All participants must be at least three years of age or older. At the conclusion of the race, there will be some prizes awarded for various categories that may include most creative, best team spirit, and best time.
Later that afternoon, there will be a Pond Skim event on the hill next to The Retreat. This year’s theme is St. Patrick’s Day, and they will be turning the pond green. The Pond Skim starts at 2pm and registration is from 11am-12pm in The Retreat lobby. To participate in the Pond Skim, you must be on skis or a snowboard. Participants will glide down the hill and see how far they can go across the pond. Participants are encouraged to dress in costumes and be creative, as you can get more points for style and appearance. One grand prize will be given based on distance and style. The winner will receive a free season pass for the next year’s ski season. Even if you don’t participate in the events, you can join this fun and exciting event to watch as a spectator.
Throughout Saturday afternoon there will also be a Retreat Deck Party. It will be hosted by DJ Mark, and he will be playing some of your favorite tunes from 12pm-5pm. There will also be an ice bar, a shot luge, and an outside grill serving food. More live music will continue in the Sports Bar at the Sugar Shack where the Lopaka Rootz Duo will be performing. Come and enjoy their uplifting reggae music from 6pm to 9:30pm. Later that evening, one of Erie’s newest cover bands, Hyde and Seek, will be rocking the Peek’ from 9:30pm-12:30am in the Bistro 210. On Sunday, there will be the 3rd annual Hair of the Dog Party in the Sports Bar. DJ Felix will be playing the tunes from 12pm to 5pm. The party will include drink features and a Bloody Mary bar.
While you are at Peek n’ Peak for the Spring Fest, they encourage you to explore all the facilities. You are invited to use the indoor pool and hot tub, for a small fee.
