Spread the love

   Ellicottville, NY, is home to a variety of boutiques for visitors and locals to browse and shop. One of these is Daff Dry Goods, which this year celebrated its 25th anniversary. Owned by Laura Solly, Daff offers a wide variety of merchandise for men, women, kids, and even canine companions.

   The subtle scent of leather welcomes guests into the store, and a mixture of classic rock tunes accompany the Daff shopping experience. The store has a Southwestern vibe, with an entire room devoted to Pendleton products, such as the brand’s trademark wool blankets, mugs, and even dog beds. (Shoppers who are accompanied by their four-legged friends are welcome to swing by the register and pick up a free small dog treat.) Daff also carries an extensive selection of Western-style hats that customers are encouraged to try on. For outdoor enthusiasts, Daff offers a mixture of Patagonia merchandise, including outerwear (for both children and adults), knit tops, and rugged travel or outdoor bags.

Whether browsing, gift-shopping, or just
exploring, Daff Dry Goods is a unique and enjoyable boutique that offers something for everyone. Located at 17 Washington Street, Ellicottville NY 14731, shoppers can visit 7 days a week, Sunday-Thursday, 10-5pm;
Friday and Saturday, 10-6pm;
or browse anytime online: www.daffevl.com.

   Apparel makes up a large part of Daff’s merchandise, with the men’s section including True Grit henleys and tees, Royal Robbins button-up shirts, and Kavu fleece pullovers. On the other side of the store, women will find cute and casual tops by Aventura and Dylan, as well as loose-knit sweaters by a Balinese company called Wooden Ships. These sweaters often have eye-catching graphics or phrases such as “Champagne Please” and “Boat Babe,” giving them a whimsical vibe. Fans of Brighton jewelry and handbags will be thrilled with the selection offered by Daff.

   Laura Solly, who has been proprietor for 20 out of the 25 years Daff has been in business, says her favorite part of the job is the relationships, whether they are customers, employees, or creators/suppliers of the store’s merchandise. A true testament to the relationships that exist between Daff and its customers was observed when one shopper, opened his wallet to pay for his purchase, said, “I bought this wallet here 25 years ago, and I’m still using it.”

    Solly continues, “I hope to give each customer a positive experience in Ellicottville, one in which they want to return to our town and our close-knit shops, restaurants, and lodging facilities.” The staff of Daff is always happy to give recommendations for places to dine, visit, and shop to customers looking for ideas.
