Jurassic World Live tour is returning to Buffalo at KeyBank Arena October 21-23 with a thrilling new show. The production features 24 film-accurate, life-sized dinosaurs, with scale, speech and ferocity, operated by animatronics and performers. Deemed exhilarating and unpredictable, this show is sure to be action packed with edge-of-your-seat stunts.
The Villager had the pleasure of speaking with touring stunt performer Derek Rojan who plays main character Chad, an 18-year-old extreme sport and social media guy who helps save the day. Derek started stunt performing when he was 19 in Universal Studios Orlando and has been featured in Halloween Horror Night and Pirates of Adventure shows. “Ever since I could remember, I wanted to be like the heroes or the guy who saved the day in an intriguing story.” He has a passion for performing and is enthused to be touring with Jurassic World and Feld Entertainment.
This Jurassic World story transforms the arena into the dense jungles of Isla Nublar, where scientists work to unravel a corrupt plan and save Jeanie, a Troodon dinosaur, from a terrible fate. Along the way, experience some of Jurassic World’s most iconic dinosaurs including Blue the Raptor, Stegosaurus, Triceratops and the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex. Derek’s character plays a key role in helping out while providing action packed choreography and extreme motorcycle stunts.
The show is unique in that it provides guests the opportunity to experience the force and power of the dinosaurs up close with an action entertaining packed storyline. Jurassic World kicked off this tour in Columbus on September 29th, and will run through April 2023 in various cities around the United States
Jurassic is put on by Feld Entertainment and is made up of 32 touring performers, plus stage cast and crew. “I’m so impressed with this group. They’re very committed to the health of the performers. We have personal trainers and they’re always on the scene.”
Derek is committed to his performing career and is enthusiastic about his first touring experience. “I’m so excited to explore new cities and what each one significantly has to offer.” He’s not sure where his performing career hold for him after Jurassic, but he knows he’ll be performing somewhere. “I’m excited to learn from this experience. I’m not sure where it will take me but I can’t wait to find out. I’m taking it one day at a time.”
Derek’s favorite part of performing is watching the audience’s reactions. “I just love seeing the awe on kids’ faces. I love seeing their reactions and watching them light up during the ‘wow’ moments. It’s really awesome.”
