Nik Fattey is the owner and founder of Fattey Beer Company, now with 5 locations across WNY. The original location opened in 2017 as Hamm & Fattey Beer Company in the village of Hamburg, NY.  Their next location opened in 2019 in downtown Buffalo under the name Fattey Beer Co.  Nik expanded to open 3 additional locations in Orchard Park, Ellicottville and Wurlitzer/North Tonawanda, which opened this past August of 2021. His inspiration comes from years of being a home brewer and appreciating the styles and innovations in beer. Traveling the world has influenced the style of the stores. As a scout for the Buffalo Sabres, Nik visited various countries collecting ideas and bringing back items from all over the world.

“Fatty Beer Co. is a bottle shop, tap room, and a craft community experience.” Every location is dog friendly, people friendly, and features a large selection of craft beer, wine, cider, seltzer, non-alcoholic drinks and gourmet snacks with indoor and outdoor seating. Unique features include a beer library, countertop storage areas as well as beer and wine delivery all over Western New York. They also offer a Mug Membership Club with special promotions and exclusive offers for members. Nik describes Fatty Beer Co. as “a coffee shop with the world’s best beer. The feel is low key, friendly, unpretentious and relaxed.”

Nik was drawn to Ellicottville as he frequently passed through on their beer delivery service. “There is pride in community here. People love being from Ellicottville and people love visiting the area.  It’s a such positive place.” He was thrilled to find such a great location. “It’s convenient for our Buffalo customers to take advantage of all the fun while they are visiting the area.”

There’s almost always something going on at Fattey’s. Mug Club night Wednesday, Trivia on Wednesday and Karoake coming soon. You can pick out your own beers and enjoy them in store, or take them to go.  They also offer keg sales, a world-class chicken sandwich and a great patio. Also, check out the wildlife.  “We have a fun list of animals that have been spotted on the property. Our manager, animal expert Jarod Miller, has used his world class expertise to identify and promote the rich natural surroundings.”

With space for groups from 6-60, they cater to a variety of events.  “You can bring in your own food, have a party catered by a favorite local restaurant and have everything from a knitting class to a wedding in our space. Nik prides himself on hospitality and the ability to be open minded.  “Customers have great ideas and unique situations.  We have the best employees who will do anything to make the customer experience great.”

Nik has loved seeing the company grow and working with incredible people and customers. “What started out with a group of 5 part-timers, has now grown to over 60 people who work for us throughout the area. Our customers have also become family in many ways.  We began only a couple years ago and I am so happy about the growth.”

Fatty Beer Co. just recently opened a Mexican restaurant in the village of Orchard Park this past fall called Flaco Taco.  “This will give us an opportunity to expand our in store offerings and well as try something fun.  We are always thinking of new fun opportunities, so stay tuned to see what happens.”

Nik would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has helped Fatty Beer Co. grow and become what it is today “We really appreciate the support and enthusiasm for Fattey Beer and craft beer in general.  We also want to thank all the brewers for making beer fun.  We couldn’t do it without them.”
