Get ready to experience Cattaraugus County like never before! Revolution Rail Co., an unique outdoor adventure company, is set to open a new location in Spring 2025, bringing its popular rail biking experience to the historic tracks of Cattaraugus County.
Revolution Rail Co. offers scenic tours on specially designed rail bikes built for two or four passengers. These bikes provide a fun and leisurely way to explore the beauty of the surrounding countryside and immerse yourself in the region’s rich railroad history.
“We’re delighted to be bringing Revolution Rail to Cattaraugus,” says owner Robert Harte. “In addition to the area’s natural beauty and the support and enthusiasm of the community make it an ideal location for us.”
With locations already operating in several states, including New York, New Jersey, Maine, and Colorado, Revolution Rail Co. has a proven track record of providing unforgettable outdoor adventures.
When operations begin in Cattaraugus next May, riders can initially expect trips on weekends only, with a maximum of four trips per day. As the season progresses towards summer, Revolution Rail Co. plans to expand operations to include more days of the week. The initial journey will be a five-mile roundtrip, with the potential for longer excursions as the County continues to restore more of the historic rail line.
“The views are truly spectacular,” says Mr. Harte. “Riders will experience the Zoar Valley gateway from a unique vantage point that can only be experienced from the tracks.”
Mr. Harte emphasized the relaxed nature of the experience. “Our rail bike tours are designed to be leisurely and enjoyable for people of all ages and fitness levels,” he assures. “It’s about soaking in the scenery and creating lasting memories.”
To enhance the Cattaraugus experience, Revolution Rail Co. is partnering with RocketCup Coffee. This exciting collaboration will allow visitors to combine their rail adventure with a visit to RocketCup’s roastery and speakeasy, offering a taste of local flavor alongside the scenic journey.
Mr. Harte praised the support from the town, county, and IDA, stating, “Cattaraugus is exactly the type of community where we want to grow our company.” He anticipates that Revolution Rail Co. will bring on 12 staff members to support operations, contributing to the economic vitality of the area.
