Situated in the beautiful Catskill Mountain Region of New York State, The Kartrite is more than a state-of-the-art indoor waterpark, it’s an entire resort designed for family fun. With various indoor and outdoor activities, dining options, and an action-packed calendar of daily activities, there’s always something to do, along with all of the swimming, sliding and splashing.
Lush vegetation and tropical 84-degree temperatures await under The Kartrite’s reclaimed conservatory full of New York’s best water adventures. Covered by the world’s largest texlon transparent roof, the year-round climate control makes for the perfect getaway any time of year. With rides and slides for all ages, a ‘not-so-lazy’ river, several pools and splash pads…the list goes on!
We started our adventure by checking out the resort. All accommodations are suites with luxurious amenities and chic furnishings along with microwave and mini-fridge. We got the lay of the land and explored the vast offerings on property, from rock climbing and a ropes course, to outdoor hiking trails, and kids’ activity club. Then it was straight to the water park! From the second we walked in, it felt like vacation. The tropical air and lush vegetation made for the perfect taste of summer in the middle of winter. We tested out the water slides and did a few laps in the lazy river before dinner. The next day, we hit up the arcade and mini-bowling before the waterpark opened. The boys caught some waves on the Flowrider stationary surfing machine with individual lessons taught by certified instructors (included), and the girls enjoyed laying back and watching the action with drinks in hand.
With various dining options and over 6 on-site restaurants and eateries, The Kartrite is a palate-pleasing resort sure to please even the pickiest eaters. From coffee shops, to the buffet, fine dining and quick bites and treats, you’ll find something to satisfy your craving. The resort also aims to meet any allergy or dietary restrictions, so be sure to inquire within.
Our stay happened to fall on New Year’s Eve, so we opted to ring in the New Year at the waterpark Disco Party with fireworks at midnight. The on-site restaurants make any occasion special, and its event space can accommodate everything from anniversaries, weddings, birthday parties, reunions and more. During the warmer months, golfers bask in The Monster Golf Club next door at Resorts World Catskills. Designed by legendary Rees Jones, this 18-hole championship golf course is a work of art nestled in the picturesque Catskill Mountains.
Whether you’re looking for a winter weekend getaway, or exploring and adventuring in The Catskills during the spring and summer, The Kartrite has something for everyone. Just a short drive away, it’s another reason I Love NY.
