Holiday Valley Update
Annual New Year’s Eve Traditions at Holiday Valley

Spread the love

By Barbara Arnstein

As they have for decades, the Holiday Valley Ski Resort in Ellicottville is throwing its very popular family-friendly and fabulous New Year’s Eve party, and they would love it if you joined in the fun! It’s free to attend, no reservations are required and guests can come and go throughout the evening. “Families have been going to Holiday Valley to ring in the New Year for generations”, said Dash Hegeman, Holiday Valley’s Director of Marketing. “For many of them, it’s a family tradition”.

That’s no surprise, because there’s so much to enjoy at the annual, exciting party! The highlights include the traditional Torchlight Parade, in which skiers carry glowsticks as they ski and create a stunning sight, and the fireworks show. It will begin about 11:45pm and end with a grand finale, an impressive fireworks display forming an awesome spectacle of color and a crescendo of sound, at midnight.

“Guests twenty-one and over will be given the option to take part in a champagne toast at midnight”, Hegeman continued. (Great news: the champagne is free!) DJ Campbell Dawson, who begins playing music in the Main Lodge at 9pm, will continue rocking it until 12:30am. Earlier in the evening, the T-Bar will be open upstairs in the Main Lodge, and drinks and food specials will be available at the Mountainside Cafe and the Ullr Bar. The snacks that will be for sale will include pretzels, nachos, popcorn, cookies, brownies and chips.

The televisions in the Ullr Bar (named after a Norse god) will be turned to the famous New York City New Year’s Eve countdown show, featuring the giant, illuminated ball on a building that descends in the last ten seconds before the new year. Count down with the folks at the Holiday Valley party (hundreds are expected to drop by), the happy thong in Manhattan (and the countless people out there watching the annual show on their screens)  as the seconds tick down to the end of 2023. Kiss a loved one at midnight for good luck in 2024, and wish everyone a Happy New Year.

“People visit the Holiday Valley New Year’s Eve party to make amazing memories”, said the Director of Marketing. “New Year’s Eve is the perfect time for families to make happy memories they can talk about for years. We are looking forward to ringing in the new year in style, and we hope you can join us!”
