The Cattaraugus County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) has been facilitating econom-ic growth to the area for over 52 years. Authorized and empowered by the State of New York, the organization aims to “retain, promote and assist business development thereby advancing job op-portunities and economic welfare to the people of Cattaraugus County.”

The Cattaraugus County IDA offers assistance in the forms of incentives including tax abate-ments, low interest loans, and bond financing. Those who are interested in investing in the growth of the area are encouraged to contact the Cattaraugus County IDA to see what forms of assistance may be available. Additionally, economic growth enhances the opportunities for job creation and retention, ultimately investing in the overall growth of the area.

Blueprint of Steelbound Established in 1971, The Cattaraugus County IDA is a self-funded entity and receives no finan-cial assistance from the government. They aim to help community members seeking to invest in the economic development of the area take advantage of Industrial Revenue Bonding to obtain low-cost financing on eligible projects.

Corey Wiktor is the Director of Cattaraugus County IDA and has served in this role for 17 years. “Our ultimate goal is helping those find financial assistance for the economic growth of the county,” says Corey. “It has been a very busy past couple of years, with many exciting projects in the area.”

This past year, The CCIDA has been involved in the Great Lakes Cheese Project, which will ultimately bring thousands of jobs to the area (see cover story).

Also this past year, the CCIDA has been involved in assisting the 1.8 million dollar upgrade to the Microtel hotel in the town of Allegheny. “The business is investing in improving their 50 guest rooms as well as hotel amenities, which ultimately improves tourism to the area,” says Corey.

Ellicottville is a large area of tourism and commerce for Cattaraugus County with the ski re-sorts of HoliMont and Holiday Valley. The CCIDA has been involved in ongoing development projects for these ski resorts. The CCIDA has also been involved in assisting the Steelbound Brewery expansion, a 3.5 million dollar project centered around brewing and distilling, along with hotel and event center.

“We are proud of Cattaraugus and invested in the economic growth of the county. With our assis-tance, various investors find assistance for projects that support the development of the area. The CCIDA assisted many investors in 2023, and we’re looking forward to the many exciting projects in the coming year(s).”
