Seneca One Tower welcome full-service canine campus with dog parks and a beer garden in WNY.
Buffalo is soon to be home America’s premier dog care and craft beer experience and the largest of its kind in the country. Hounds and Hops recently opened its first of three phases in its grand opening process. Located in and around The Seneca One Tower in downtown Buffalo, this full-service canine campus brings the ultimate experience for dog lovers and craft beer lovers alike.
Co-founders Jarod Miller and Bob Manley are both animal lovers and entrepreneurs. They approached Douglas Development, owner and developer of Seneca One, and the model was a perfect fit. Douglas Jamal, the company’s founder, has revitalized many of the city’s largest and most high-profile buildings. Jamal is also an avid animal lover and enthusiastically supports the plan. “We saw the need here in Buffalo,” says Jarod. “We combined the dog care industry with the hospitality industry into one experience that we’re certain people are going to fall in love with.”
Currently, Hounds & Hops is operating from the ground level of Seneca One offering dog grooming, and a nice selection of draft and grab ‘n go beer. Experienced groomers offer expert services, while owners can relax and enjoy a beverage while they wait. Hounds & Hops also offer a concierge service, where owners can drive up to a convenient drop off area and their pup is onboarded without having to leave the car. “Our goal is to make the dogs happy, comfortable and relaxed,” says Christina Tredo, lead groomer. “Our staff is well-trained, experienced, and we really enjoy what we do.”
The company has also partnered with the Buffalo Animal Shelter to groom foster dogs to help them get adopted. “We’ve been very successful with this mission,” says Christina. “We’ve groomed four shelter dogs, since we opened on November 1, and all 4 have since found homes. It’s such a great opportunity to help dogs in need.”
Hounds & Hops is a destination for dogs AND their owners, and will also host weekly adoption events. “It’ll be a fun event for owners to get out with their dogs, socialize and enjoy some craft beer,” says Christina. Follow on Social Media for updates on this event.
The second phase, expected to open Spring 2024, will include indoor and outdoor dog parks and daycare catering to the Seneca One commercial clients and residents in the area. “We’re also going to have an open dog park in the evenings and the weekends to create that sense of community and bring Buffalo together as a dog city,” says Bob.
The expansive area will feature UV lights and plenty of greenspace for dogs and owners alike. “In Buffalo, we spend a lot of time indoors – 8 months out of the year,” says Jarod. “Our goal is to create the outdoors, indoors. We’re all craving that outdoor park space that Hounds and Hops will provide.” The 5,000 square foot space will be open to the community, and all are welcome to visit with or without dogs to enjoy the green space and craft beer.
Members of dog-daycare and visitors to the open parks will be supervised by experienced “Bark Rangers”, offering various activities and individualized attention. The third and final phase will include dog training and boarding. “Our goal is to be your one-stop-shop for all canine needs,” says Bob.
“We plan to make Buffalo a dog friendlier city and further enhance the downtown experience. We’re redefining “dog friendly” in Buffalo and excited to provide a destination for dog lovers and the community alike,” says Jarod.
