CHQ Business: She Sings Cafe
Delicious Artistic Endeavour in Mayville NY

Spread the love

By Patricia Micciche

An extraordinary new breakfast, lunch (and soon to come dinner) café has just opened at 95 W. Lake Rd., Mayville, NY.  It has window views of Chautauqua Lake from its many tables, or you can seat yourself at the counter area on a silver “diner” stool.

You will be surprised when you first walk in and see a superb grand piano!  Yes, the new owner, Rebecca Magnuson, is a professional concert pianist and she sings— Thus the café’s name, She Sings!

Rebecca holds her most important roll as Mom to Grace and Gardne.

Rebecca is at her newly opened café every day working along with her chefs, her cooks and her waitresses to make certain you are served a fine meal of the best quality, using the freshest local ingredients..

While having breakfast there last week, I learned from Rebecca (by the way she is a beautiful, vivacious woman) why she chose this location here by Chautauqua Lake.  “Because”, she said, “it is close to Chautauqua Institution where I spent summers studying classical piano with Ozan Marsh, who was legendary in teaching piano there.  I was high school age then…”  She also shared she moved to Mayville, NY the summer before high school and waitressed at Dick’s Harbor House (now She Sings® Cafe) from age 16 and through college…it paid for her education in the 80’s.

“Also, I have a mission to accomplish outside of my professional career, which is to establish a center to use music as a healing force—in domestic violence, in abuse, and to help others find their voice, and their own song of life.” “And, opening this restaurant and providing a concert or a get-together place, is one facet of my mission.”

“Finding our own voice, our own song to life in very important.”  Indeed, Rebecca Magnuson is doing that every moment. She has composed and performed in her own musical; She Sings.  It is a one woman show that has toured from off Broadway to Los Angeles, bringing education, healing and empowerment.

Additionally, Rebecca has produced a 5-part documentary telling her tory and millions of other women’s stories.  It is currently being shopped for distribution.

She Sings Café is open Monday -Saturday 7am -3pm, kitchen closes at 2:30pm.  Email info@shesings.com for inquiries, or go to www.shesings.com or www.shesingscafe.rocks.
