Buffalo,NY
The Essex Center is excited to share a new Call for Artists for a large-scale public mural project at the Essex Street Arts Center, presented in partnership with Arts Services Initiative of Western New York.
This opportunity invites artists to create a bold, site-responsive mural that will activate a highly visible facade on Buffalo’s West Side.

Project Overview
Griffis Sculpture Park’s Essex Center located at 30 Essex Street in Buffalo NY has five metal, roll-up garage doors (approx. 9’ x 96’ total) looking for art! The theme: Transformation in Motion — reflecting change, movement, resilience, and the site’s creative legacy. They are allocating $15,000 (inclusive of artist fee, materials, and installation).
The deadline for artist applications is Friday, February 20 at 5pm. The installation is to be spring/early summer of this year.
This call prioritizes artists living in Erie, Niagara, Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties.
Individual artists and collaborative teams with demonstrated mural or large-scale public art experience are encouraged to apply. For more information email: info@asiwny.org.
