The Old Library Inn in Olean celebrated a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to commemorate opening under new ownership on Friday, October 10, 2025. While the building has existed since 1895, it has been completely renovated but still maintains its historic charm with a few modern touches.

Jess Anderson and Mike Bysiek have extensive experience in property management, and recently acquired the Old Library Bed & Breakfast. Being from Olean, Jess recognized the charm and potential in this property. Jess and Mike first teamed up around 2020 when they bought, renovated and sold 25 apartments in Olean. They’ve since worked together on The Kelly House in Ellicottville, The Eagles Nest on Bibbs Street, along with many other properties in the area. “Mike and I work great together,” explains Jess. “He is computer and real estate savvy, while I do the handywork and renovations.”

The Old Library Inn is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Olean at 16 S Union Street. It was originally built in 1895, and served many purposes until 43 years ago, it was renovated into a Bed and Breakfast. The property blends Victorian elegance with a literary twist; a cozy retreat in surrounded by the Enchanted Mountains. The Inn blends storied architecture with curated comforts, creating a unique, elevated guest experience.

The property features 7 historic rooms, most of
which are named after famous poets, authors and

The Inn is a desirable for larger groups, including family reunions, bachelor/bachelorette parties and other gatherings, as it can be entirely rented out for one event. “It’s a great property to host a group event,” explains Jess. “The staff is incredibly accommodating, and it’s a great way to keep everyone close together, but with their own private rooms.”

The property is also a great option for those attending games at nearby St. Bonaventure. “We love hosting fans and alumni for Bonnie’s games,” remarks Jess. “It’s a great, convenient option, just 2.5 miles down W State Street, a 10-15 min walk or easy drive.”

When Jess and Mike acquired the property, the previous employees remained working at the B&B. “We are so grateful to have such dedicated employees,” remarks Jess. “Lois and Amy are great hostesses; they really think of everything to make our guests feel welcome. It’s that extra, personal touch that you just don’t get at a Inn. I’ve often seen guests hug them as they’re leaving.”

Breakfast is included with stays on Saturday and Sunday, with the Library Restaurant located just next door, planned to open November/December. “While they’re separately owned, we’re glad to have the restaurant just next door. It’s a convenient option for our guests.”

The Old Library Inn in Olean celebrated an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, October 10 to commemorate its new ownership. “We’re proud to keep this tradition alive here in Olean,” remarks Jess. “We’re looking forward to being a part of the community for many years to come.”
