Pearl City Clay House is a place in Jamestown that offers various kinds of artistic activities. There, individuals, families and other groups can enjoy both creating artwork and each others’ company. It’s a program of Infinity Visual and Performing Arts and all profits from events go to support youth programming. Their mission is to help area youth “explore, experience and excel in the arts”.
Some of the upcoming artistic activities in October include on October 3rd: the Bucket Project, in which participants create napkin rings or place cards. Each bucket comes with clay, tools and easy instructions. The Paint-Your-Own-Pottery Special includes a free mini pumpkin ornament with a twenty-dollar purchase, and there are (always) bowls, figurines, and other pottery items to choose from and paint. Also on October 3rd, from 5:30-8pm, participants are taught some basic embroidery stitches in the “Spiders and Skeletons” class, which is perfect for beginners. On October 4th, the activities focus on learning how to make pottery using a pottery wheel. In “Wheel Try-It”, from 10:30-11:30am, participants can try out a pottery wheel, and become familiar with the classic pottery techniques involving centering, pulling and shaping clay. A class that takes place on the same day from 1:30-3:30pm, involves further elements of pottery creation, including shaping and refining, trimming and exploring glazes. The price includes clay, glaze and all firings, along with the use of studio equipment and small group instruction.
Executive Assistant Stephanie Rogers said, “We believe everyone is an artist. Whether you’ve never touched clay before or you’ve been practicing for years, Pearl City Clay House is a welcoming space where you can learn, experiment, and grow at your own pace. What makes us unique is the variety of creative opportunities you’ll find under one roof—clay classes, contemporary crafts, a public gallery, a retail shop, and flexible walk-in projects that invite you to drop in and get creative anytime the studio are open.”

“We’re proud to be a hub for families, visitors, and groups of all ages looking for something fun, meaningful, and hands-on to do in downtown Jamestown”, she continued. “And because Pearl City Clay House is a program of Infinity Visual and Performing Arts, every class, workshop, and project here also supports Infinity’s work with children and teens—helping young artists learn, grow, and shine.”
