On Sunday, August 17th, U Take the Cake, located at Four Corners in Busti, is celebrating its third anniversary from 12pm-4pm. This bakery is owned by Brenda Moran, and it specializes in custom cakes, cupcakes, cake pops, and other baked goods, perfect for special events and everyday indulgences. They also offer gluten free goodies, cake decorating classes, kids’ classes, and birthday parties. They are open most days from 8am to 4pm.
For their third anniversary, U Take the Cake is dedicating their celebration as a fundraiser for the Patricia Allen Fund, which is part of Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH). The Patricia Allen Fund was created in 2020 when Buffalo Bills fans witnessed Josh Allen’s outstanding performance against the Seattle Seahawks, just a day after his grandmother, Patricia Allen, had passed away. Following this, Bills fans began making donations to OCH, a charity significant to Josh. Many donated in increments of $17, reflecting Josh’s jersey number. To manage these generous contributions, Oishei Children’s Hospital, with input from Josh Allen and his family, officially established the Patricia Allen Fund in December 2020.
When she was asked why she is dedicating her business’s anniversary to this fundraiser, Brenda said that she has supported charitable causes in the past. A few years ago, a friend needed assistance, and she organized a cupcake fundraiser to help. She has participated in other fundraising efforts for children, including events for St. Jude’s, and is always looking for causes to help support, especially those related to children. She decided to support The Patricia Allen Fund, and she has a lot of community help in doing so.
The anniversary fundraiser will be an afternoon of fun activities for the community to enjoy. There will be live music by one of WNY’s favorite bands called Black Widow. This fantastic band will be performing from 12pm-3pm, playing classic rock, pop, and a little bit of country. You may want to bring your lawn chairs and enjoy an entertaining afternoon of music by this popular local band.
A key component of the fundraiser will be a silent auction. Attendees can bid on selected items, with the highest bid winning the item. The silent auction will feature items such as an MVP Josh Allen collector’s card, a certified Mini Helmet signed by Josh Allen, a Joe DeLamielleure jersey (he was a guard for the Bills during the O.J. Simpson era), and a football signed by Dawson Knox.
In addition to the silent auction, there will be a Chinese auction featuring some amazing Buffalo Bills-themed baskets, an Ed Oliver jersey, a Frank Gore jersey, decorative Bills throw pillows, handbags, and other Bills merchandise, as well as additional baskets and gift cards. For just $5, you can purchase tickets that give you 11 chances to win. Many of the items are already on display at the bakery, and you do not need to be present on August 17th to win. Feel free to stop by U Take the Cake a head of time to browse at the Chinese auction items and purchase tickets for your chance to win.
Beyond music and auctions, there are other activities taking place. If you’re wondering what’s available for children, there will be two bounce houses near the bakery. Kids can also enjoy a football toss where they have the chance to win a cupcake.
When you are looking for food options, Brenda and her husband will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers outside the bakery, and they will have specials on cupcakes. Proceeds from these food items, along with both auctions, will go to the Patricia Allen Fund. Additionally, there will be other vendors including The Taco Hut food truck, Franklin’s Kettle Corn, the Merritt Slush Bus, Chachy’s Lemonade, and more.
The third anniversary of U Take the Cake will be a one-of-a-kind celebration and fundraiser with music, auctions, and delicious food that will surely be an exciting fun filled community event. There will be plenty of Buffalo Bills items available for raffle, making it interesting for any Bills fans.
