When The Roycroft came under new management, Daniel decided it was time for a change. Through his connections to Fredonia, his wife Gretchen grew up here, he’d heard of the renovations at The White Inn and decided to learn more about the property. He applied, and was hired as manager, and officially started his position in May. According to Daniel, “it was the second-best decision I’ve made in my life, the first was marrying my wife.”

The White Inn officially opened in November 2024 after a complete renovation of this historic property. The Grand Opening will be marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 26.  It is now a 25-room luxurious hotel, offering modern amenities like flatscreen TVs and marble bathrooms, while still maintaining their historic charm. “What they’ve done here is nothing short of miraculous,” says Daniel. “Everything here is top-notch with extraordinary attention to detail.”

The White Inn has been a key landmark to the city of Fredonia for over 150 years. Daniel is proud to be a part of something that has played such an important role in the community over the years. “What they’ve done here is incredible,” says Daniel. “The renovations honor the historic nature of the property.    It is a true landmark, and it is being treated as such.”

Daniel is proud to be a part of such a dedicated, hard-working team. “I’ve worked in various roles in hospitality over the years, and I can honestly say that this team is the most devoted, enthusiastic team I’ve worked with. Everyone here is ready to serve, and enjoys their job, and that speaks volumes. Working alongside Chef Devon Jones and Steve St George has been an honor. These guys are truly commendable, hardworking individuals.”

Since opening in November, The White Inn has received outstanding reviews. I’ve heard nothing but good,” says Daniel. “Everyone in Fredonia is happy to see this historic landmark come back to life, and be a part of the community in such a positive way. We’re looking forward to what the future brings.”

Daniel is looking forward to The White Inn gaining the attention it deserves. “Not only do I aim to help ensure a positive guest experience, but I strive to help promote the property and get the word out. I’m looking forward to watching The White Inn shine as word spreads, and helping it maintain its significance to the Fredonia community.”

This upcoming season, The White Inn will be hosting various events including bridal showers, reunions, civic events and other celebrations. The restaurant and bar are open to the general public offering fresh and inspired dishes in an inviting atmosphere. “We hope The White Inn will continue to be a place for gathering; a place for celebration and milestone occasions,” says Daniel.

Daniel considers this opportunity at The White Inn to be the opus to his career. “I’ve had a lifetime career in hospitality. I’m humbled to have come to a place that is so important to the Fredonia community; I’m honored to help make it successful now, during this revitalization, and for many years to come.”
