Exciting new things are happening this summer at the HoliMont Ski resort in Ellicottville, NY! On June 20th, the Bike Park reopens for the season and every Saturday and Sunday, from 11am-3pm, the Wanderer Hut food truck will be there, which specializes in authentic Polish recipes and European sweets, made entirely from scratch. The owners describe their selections as “traditional Polish and European cuisine with a modern twist”.
One of the owners, Mariusz, began learning to cook when he was a young boy, alongside his mother as she ran her catering business, while the other, Natalia, had her own catering business. Many dishes they offer come from recipes Mariusz learned from his mother. The menu items include entrees such as Polish kielbasa (sausages), pulled pork, and grilled chicken. Other menu items include: pierogi (dumplings, which are filled with mashed potatoes and farmers cheese), bread made from scratch, potato salad and special dressings.
The most-ordered items include the Polish Platter, the Mediterranean Platter and the Gyro, containing chicken or gyro meat, served with rice and Greek feta salad. Other popular items include the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, which is served with arugula and potato salad; the Pierogi selection, which includes three of them, served in threes with onion; and the wraps.
The Chicken Wrap includes grilled chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, cheese, and a signature dressing, and the Ham and Cheese Wrap includes ham, cheese, lettuce, pickles and a signature dressing. The Polish Platter features Polish Kielbasa with homemade three farmer’s cheese, pierogi, signature potato salad, and a piece of scratch-basked bread and butter, and the Mediterranean Platter features grilled chicken, rice and Greek salad. The Wanderlust Salad served on bread includes arugula, blue cheese, prosciutto, tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pine nuts, walnuts, balsamic, lemon juice and olive oil.
In addition to these delicious dishes, there are delectable desserts including chocolate cake, coconut cake, Polish cheesecake and mini-pavlovas. What are mini-pavlovas? Smaller versions of pavlovas, meringue desserts topped with whipped cream and fruit. The drinks available include Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite and water. The prices for everything are reasonable.
