2 Scoops Ice Cream Shop in Hamburg, NY just announced new management from John and Susan Szczypierowski to Mike and Brooke (Spaizcher) Rogers (pictured above). Both couples have connections to 14731, John and Mike go way back to when John was a regional manager for Sysco. He guided Mike through different aspects in the food industry, only developing further skills that Mike has utilized at Ellicottville Brewing Company.
New owners Mike and Brooke reside in the village of Ellicottville where they plan to raise their upcoming family.
John and Susan founded 2 Scoops Ice Cream 17 years ago and it has grown to become the #1 Ice Cream Shop in WNY as voted for in the 2023 Buffalo News Best of 716 Awards. 2 Scoops has become a staple in the community, offering both hard and soft serve ice cream, along with their famous ice cream tacos and ice cream cakes. Their ‘name of the day’ contest on social media has attracted many new and returning customers, and their pop-up events continue to be successful.
Recently, John and Susan decided it was time to turn the business over to a new couple, as they begin to look towards retirement. “We’d talked about taking ownership of 2 Scoops casually a few years ago,” says Mike, “but it became more serious over the past year. The timing was right, and we’re looking forward to this new venture.”
Having worked in the restaurant industry since he was 15 years old, Mike is very experienced in many facets of the trade. He is currently the General Manager at Ellicottville Brewing Company, but is looking forward to ownership and a different pace. “Ice cream brings happiness. We’re looking forward to everything this venture has to offer.”
John and Susan plan to help with the changeover for a year or two and phase out when the timing is right. “We’re so happy they are willing and able to help make this a fluent transition. They’ve built such a great business and we’re thrilled we can carry it on for them. It’s been great working together thus far, and we’re looking forward to brainstorming more ideas in the coming months.”

This season, 2 Scoops will be featuring more pop-up events, and is working with food vendors to bring food trucks to the shop. Mike and Brooke will continue to offer a variety of delicious ice cream treats including vegan and allergen friendly options. They’re looking to get more involved in weddings and other events, and maybe even an ice cream truck in the near future.
